Since there's no official "Romantic Spanking Month" this year, I decided to do something with Katie and Bullmoose.

Ironbark timber is usually used for flooring, decking and outside building use. It is very hard wearing.

Hard-wearing is just what's needed for anything that's used for spanking Katie!

I've recently read that some instrument builders are using ironbark for fretboards, Fretboards need to be made of hard wood. The traditional choice is ebony. Rosewood is another one that's frequently used. So is maple. In North America, maple is more plentiful than ebony or rosewood, and it's very hard and durable. I suppose Aussie instrument builders would experiment with using ironbark fretboards for the same reason.

I suppose whoever cut that piece of wood into shape and then cut out those little heart-shaped holes must've worn out a couple of saw blades!

The paddle maker probably started out with a hammer and chisel and finished the heart shaped holes with a wood rasp..

I was thinking jigsaw, but a hammer and chisel would work too... if the paddle-maker stopped every so often to sharpen his chisel.

Understood. Family comes first. I hope sometime you'll have a chance to read some of my recent O.T. Katie strips. Katie has been vacationing in Sydney with her husband and daughter. Of course, if you haven't seen the story about how her timeline has been altered by her distant descendant, Elaine, you might be saying, "Husband and daughter? How the @#$% did she suddenly get a husband and daughter?" It actually... sort of... makes sense, in a comic-strippy kind of way.

Probably makes as much sense as all the nieces and nephews in Disney comics in the care of single uncles and aunts with no trace of parents.

Actually, I think mine makes more sense... IF you accept the time-travel premise. I decided I wanted Katie to be married with a daughter, but didn't want to show her being pregnant, or taking care of an infant. So, my solution was to have her daughter be born in 2001. And my explanation was that Elaine's interference brought Katie and Bullmoose together sooner than they did on their own. So now, some of the stuff that happened in my earlier cartoons still happened, and some of it didn't.

Donald Duck is another matter. How does he have nephews but not a brother or a sister? Maybe the parents of his nephews died and that's why he has to take care of them? I don't know.

Some people have postulated that his "nephews" are actually his own illegitimate sons.

Like "nephews" of Popes who turned out to be their sons. The word "Nepotism" comes from the Greek word "nepos", meaning nephew. There were Popes who were "nephews" of other Popes.
