Oops! I made two mistakes with my million-plus year estimate. I had thought Neanderthals were around earlier... Maybe I got confused by that movie: One Million Years B.C.

I also forgot that Grant was not born when Neanderthals roamed the earth (or at least some large patches of Europe). Grant was cloned by Katie in the early 2000's!

I'm afraid that unlike Willjohn, I'd forgotten the details of Futuregirl's history so I couldn't helpfully point out the facts about the Neanderthals that he did. If we go back one million years, Homo Erectus (whose name always produced titters from students in school when they learn about him) was the dominant hominid. In fact, he was around for over a million years in relatively stable form (until about 600,000 years ago), although later specimens do seem to have had slightly larger brains. Presumably, Erectus is the ancestor of both Neanderthals and Modern Man, although nobody has found enough fossils to demonstrate the exact lineage.

Anthropology aside, I very much enjoyed the latest episode in your Romantic Spanking series, and I'll say once again that the whole time-loop idea is a masterstroke of spanking humor. What could be better than knowing a deserving spankee is getting repeated spankings?

There were a few...(very few) sci-fi authors who wrote about time-loops before Groundhog Day, but that was the movie that put the time loop into popular culture. That's why I call my time-loop the "Groundhog Day Time-Loop" and place it at February the second 1993. A savvy time-traveler avoids that date... unless he WANTS to go into repeat mode... for instance if he uses the opportunity to give a pretty backside the same spanking multiple times!

Yeah. But I have my doubts that the "experts" really know the exact date of dinosaur extinction. At a certain point, dinosaurs stopped dying in a way that allowed their skeletons to fossilize.

Some people believe that humans actually saw dinosaurs, and that's why almost every ancient culture had legends of dragons.
