In Australia about two years ago a woman who objected to wearing a mask in a hardware store at the height of the Covid 19 outbreak was referred to as a Karen, her being somebody who regarded herself as too high and mighty to obey a reasonable direction from a shop assistant who was acting in accordance with the company's rules for avoiding the spread of the disease. Seems this Karen is a member of the same store as that Karen. It is a shame that the "lady" at the hardware store was not spanked.

Well, he's not gay in the modern meaning of that word. I looked up the Gay Gordons and saw that they were a military regiment in Scotland, and that there's a dance by that name.

Maybe you could call this Gordon a choreographer. He's just taught Karen to do the "ouchie dance"!

I feel sorry for good women who are stuck with that name, now that it has acquired such negative connotations.

Katie had to learn the hard way. I suppose. But, as an intelligent woman, she learned quickly that saying, "You wouldn't dare," to a man intent on spanking her was a lot like waving a red flag at a bull.

It was just that in the late 1960s a few statisticians in the government office I worked in used slide rules. After pocket calculators became popular the slide rules seemed to disappear. In about 1965 said office had bought a computer the size of a bedroom but the calculators were more convenient for personal use.

Due to lack of time (as usual), I can't check the exact dates various calculators came onto the market, but I have a very good memory for dates and this is how I remember things:

Hewlett-Packard came out with a hand-held calculator around 1972. It was expensive, like $400 (in 1972 dollars) and I certainly didn't own one, but it was unquestionably easier to use than a slide rule. I probably learned to use a slide rule in 1974 or '75, and I well remember my chemistry instructor in 1975 using a large version over the black board when working out a problem! Note that this is when the National Lampoon cover spanking came out.

In 1977, I bought my first calculator, a Texas Instruments TI-30, for about $17 ($24.50 Australian dollars if the exchange rate then was anything like today - I actually tried but couldn't find the exchange rate for 1977). It featured a red LED display (this was before LCDs), a case with a belt loop to help you look as nerdy as possible, and I loved it! I've kept it to this day and it still works!

As much as I loved my TI-30, I was a peculiar lad and still carried a nice-quality slide rule around campus in a beat-up old briefcase although when a lab report was due I generally used the calculator. I was, however, the only student or professor I could see who still carried a slide-rule around, which testifies as to how quickly the electronic calculator replaced it. Perhaps I realized, as B00m commented earlier, that a slide rule makes a better spanking implement than a calculator, and hoped to apply it one day to a shapely coed. That happy day never arrived, although I did use a ruler on a female student once (something you'd never get away with today), and as a matter of fact I still have a slide rule somewhere...

So Karen received an object lesson teaching her to always get things in writing. This strip would actually make a good teaching tool in a contract law course, although I can't see Professor Kingsfield using it . There's a reason for written agreements that spell out exactly what actions each party must perform, and when. A spanking-related contract would be a most interesting document, spelling out how many strokes, in what position, at what intensity, etc.

Of course, the best part here is the scheming Karen being undone by her own machinations, or "hoist with her own petard" as the Bard might say. The tawse is a pretty fearsome implement as Karen learns the hard way, and seeing her forced to bend over to receive it fills the reader with a great satisfaction .

As for Katie - well, she'd better not count on always getting off so lightly as she did this time!

In 1976 the Australian dollar was worth $1.25 US. It really went down in the early 1980s.

Yeah. I think it's the motion, not the color that the bulls charge at in a bullfight. However, in bullfighting, red has been the traditional color.

Getting a contract in writing would've been the ideal plan... (for Karen) But a more specific oral agreement between Karen and Gordon would probably have been sufficient. If Karen had told Gordon that he had to give Katie a certain amount of strokes, and insisted that they be hard strokes, I think Gordon would be true to his word. However, for the purpose of this story, Karen left Gordon a loophole, and Gordon took advantage of it.

Yes. The point of this particular story was that Karen needed to be "hoist with her own petard". Even though no explosive devices were used, I think Karen was feeling as if her backside had been blasted.

That's true. Katie will be in for some hard spankings in the future.

I can remember when calculators were introduced. And I remember that they were expensive at first. Since I was not taking any classes that would require one, it was several years later, after the price came down that I ever owned one. Most of the time, for basic arithmetic, I still figure things in my head, or on a piece of paper. In a retail job, about all the math I have to do is to balance the money in the cash registers with the sales and refunds that have been made.

I didn't think of that... but she probably would pay Gordon back... IF Gordon ever collected his money at all.

Karen, who had gone unspanked for such a long time, is a little closer to evening the score, and Katie was there to see it.

My inspiration this time was an illustration for an old sci-fi story:

The story was called Naughty Venusienne, and it was about an invisible girl from Venus. When her Terran boyfriend decided she needed a spanking, she tried to hide, (Easy to do when you're invisible) His solution was to dust her backside with some talcum powder so he could find the target.

In my story, Bullmoose has a different solution.
