On last week's "Bottoms Up, Sonya" by Tom Sutton:

I don't believe it's ever been on the 'net before. While I'm happy to bring good-quality reposts to
CSR readers, of course it's always a special thrill when I can show you all something that hasn't been seen before. Of the dozen or so remaining cartoons in the
Humorama Series, I think all but the penultimate one, which came from Dan's collection and has already been posted on this board, will be new to everyone.
On the Joe Shuster spanking in Continental #1:

Details and shading in this drawing are superior to the "Secretary Spanking" toons, so you can say this one is better than those... although the spankee here is wearing bloomers and high button shoes, surely an anachronism by the mid20th century, which we assume was the era of the toon's first publication. Again, the girl's positioning is excellent.

The Joe Shuster Otk School Stlye Switching is great ! the over the knees position is off. should have been made to lay more flatly over his lap with her breasts hanging past his knees! instead of looking crunch up! The spankee is very pretty and I love her long bloomers and boots

hope to see you post more from Mr. Shuster especially from his work in Vintage Sleaze!
overbarrel49 wrote:more interesting information surrounding the Joe Schuster drawing you posted today. it sure makes me wonder why they even bothered to post issue #1 if they were never gonna do another one

. as you mentioned, there are some problems but the otk position in this one but it's much better than either #15 or #34. in both those cases, the spankee is appealing and well drawn but appears to me to be somehow "apart" from the rest of the scene. i'll be interested to see more of Schuster's work and more info about him and the publications he worked for as we go forward

.
You'll be glad to know, Butch, that we're going to be seeing a weekly series of Shuster's other M/F spanking illustrations for
Nights of Horror. This will run alongside the
Humorama Series as long as I can manage to do both - I have to work in a series of 11 Humorama pastiches that Tim did as well as two of my own articles, so our production schedule from now until May is looking pretty crowded.
Phil asked why they never did a
Continental #2. Since there is a comic with a cliffhanger ending in issue #1, it seems clear that they did intend to do issue #2 but something went wrong. With publishing there are two big problems you can run into in getting a book to market: the first is financing and the second is distribution. Presumably, the publishers of
Continental encountered one or both of these problems. It's a pity in a way, because if it had continued we might well have gotten more spanking illustrations from Shuster.
On the DeCarlo Kringle Birthday Spanking update:

i too like the new scan with the wide eyed look of shock on the spankee's face and of course the hose, garters and frilly panties showcasing her little bottom
butch wrote: love the shock look on the spankee face as she is being spanked

also like how her bottom is bared and red on the color scan!

thats one nice birthday spanking she got! Great drawing from Dan DeCarlo!
daneldorado wrote:
As you said, this gag is classic DeCarlo: a man spanks a pretty woman on a flimsy pretext (here, a "birthday" spanking when it isn't really her birthday) because he secretly enjoys it, and the spankee never does catch on. You did quite a nice psychological profile of the sugar daddy here, intuiting that he spanks her for no reason other than he wants to, and the cute young thing across his lap is not really trying to resist. Bingo! Those are precisely the correct sentiments here. In fact, you did a pretty thorough job of describing my own technique, back when I was single, in my twenties, and dating. I confess that I used to try the very same approach back then. (Got away with it too, a bunch of times.)
Everyone seemed to like this. It's really too bad that I'm fairly certain there aren't any undiscovered DeCarlo Humorama "spankers" left out there.
