I never had a high opinion of Scooby anyway.

Neither did I mostly. It was better than a lot of other cartoons of its time... but that's not saying much. Most '70s and '80s cartoons were crap.

I'd like to chime in on some of the lively discussion here.

1. On the Scooby-Doo references: it was interesting (and I think a little daring) of B00m to have Mr. Argyle start us down this road. I know I posted a lot of Scooby-stuff last year (and there's more in my files!) and some of it is Halloween-themed, but strangely it seems only two artists ever thought to have Daphne or Velma get spanked by a ghost - and B00m did the Katie-spanking better here, anyway. (Daphne's ghost-spanking may be found here, if anyone's interested.) I agree with Willjohn that Katie would have been better off with Shaggy and Scooby than the two pumpkin-heads Argyle assigned her, and that there wasn't much to the shows - poor Scooby has to be the most overused character in animation. I will repeat what I'm sure I opined somewhere else, namely that only the original 1969 series, formulaic as it was, ever really worked, and all that followed was pretty much a waste of film.

I agree with your opinion there.

2. On the ghost's ability to materialize: it's probably silly to waste too much thought on this, but as ghosts are supposed to be immaterial ectoplasm it does present a problem for a ghost-spanks-girl situation. I think B00m came up with as good an explanation as anyone could in ascribing this ghost's solid spanking hand to Katie's hereditary sorcery.

In an episode of Topper, there was a ghost-on-ghost spanking that I enjoyed. A couple of years back, I did a story with a living man spanking a ghost woman... and my explanation for that being possible was also a hereditary connection. The man was in love with the ghost's great-grand-daughter... as well as a physical object that had relevance to the ghost's past... (a hairbrush that was used on her backside during her lifetime)

The sorceress heredity for Katie sort of makes sense. That's why this time, the stars look like pentagrams.

3. On Phantom Girl: she's come up for discussion on CSR in a very limited way from time to time, but we don't have any actual spankings featuring her. (Maybe David could write a story based around his idea of her spanking a girl wearing a suit of armor). In my copy of the site I found this one example that was taken from an old issue of Adventure Comics with the dialogue rewritten by me. It was first used in an article I wrote years ago. Phantom Girl is the one with the big "P" on her costume (later changed, of course):

It might make an interesting story... but it would be better if somebody came up with a way to spank HER!

I found it annoying that having learned from experience there are no ghosts shaggy still ran like hell at the suggestion of one. As for the dog, surely it would work out that something it could not smell could not be there.

There was an episode where a villian came up with a knife that could wound her when she was in Phantom Mode ;its not much of a streacch to come up with a Paddle that would bruise Her ethreal Glutimus Mazimus. Will have to think about this
