Did Maureen have to play second fiddle to Hayley Mills?

Yeah, that's what happened. The way the script was written, whoever played the teenage twins was going to be the star. Hayley Mills got the role, and the publicity department went to work making posters featuring her name and image prominently. However, they had signed a contract with Maureen O'Hara promising her top billing.

Most of us at C.S.R. are old enough to remember when there was such a thing as a T.V. repairman.
For anyone who doesn't know all about T.V. repairmen, I'll explain. The first T.V.s were made with tubes (called "valves" in the U.K.) that could be individually replaced if one of them went bad. The repairmen drove big box vans full of different tubes and would go to customers' houses to figure out which tube needed to be replaced, and install the new one on site.
The only repair they couldn't do quickly in the customer's home was a picture tube. They were big and expensive, and had to be ordered. The repairman would have to haul the T.V. to his shop and wait.
The original reason I added "DIzzie" Lizzie to my O.T. Katie cast was so that I could do a T.V. repairman gag.

Delores seems to have lost much of her ability to take a good spanking since the rehearsals. What a cry-baby!
...and now she really does have a bare arse, and a sore one.

Hi, WillJohn. Thanks for commenting.

I think that's because Jack is spanking her a lot harder than he did during rehearsals. She's been very naughty this time. (And maybe Jack is like that old Lon Chaney Jr. movie... a jolt of electricity gives him superhuman strength!)
She sure does!

Delores Gets What's Comics to Her
I'm short on time here, B00m, because I need to get the weekly updates posted, so I can only say this was another comic masterpiece (despite the apparent simplicity of its plot), and of course I loved seeing the classic "Lizzie" hairbrush applied to Delores' deserving bare bottom
!
Oh yes, and for the benefit of those younger readers you were explaining T.V. repairmen to, we should mention that picture tubes required very high voltage to operate - say 20,000 volts - and that they retained this voltage even after being shut off. (I had an excellent Sony about 20 years ago at the end of the picture tube era that was more like 30,000 volts which gave a beautiful picture but caused the set to have some problems). Therefore, there was a real danger of getting a bad shock if you didn't know what you were doing (i.e. to discharge the tube's anode).

Hi, Web-ed. Thanks for commenting.

)
I'm glad you liked this one. I deliberately kept the plot simple this time, since it's part of a bigger story. And it's a happy day when Delores gets a bare-bottomed spanking with the "Dizzie Lizzie" hairbrush!web-ed wrote: ↑Fri Dec 03, 2021 9:29 am I'm short on time here, B00m, because I need to get the weekly updates posted, so I can only say this was another comic masterpiece (despite the apparent simplicity of its plot), and of course I loved seeing the classic "Lizzie" hairbrush applied to Delores' deserving bare bottom!

The holding of a charge in the picture tube was something I wasn't aware of. I could see that the tubes got glowing hot when the set was turned on and the glow continued for several minutes after the set was turned off. (Much like Delores's backside is going to glow for a while even after Jack is finished spanking her!web-ed wrote: ↑Fri Dec 03, 2021 9:29 am Oh yes, and for the benefit of those younger readers you were explaining T.V. repairmen to, we should mention that picture tubes required very high voltage to operate - say 20,000 volts - and that retained this voltage even after being shut off. From what I read she taunted him before the day of the spanking saying " I've heard you are not much of a spanker" to get him to smack her hard. She held Wayne in high regard.
