What the @#$%! As long as I'm ripping off bits and pieces of McLintock! for my story, why not have Clorene get spanked with a steel fireplace shovel? You may ask, "But why did Mr. Kauf just happen to have a steel fireplace shovel handy?" I don't know. Maybe he was going to have a picnic after work and was going to use it for the campfire. Who knows?
