If you remember from episode 1, Ed and Frances wandered by on their way to his house, while Dr. Swatson was spanking Linda. I actually don't remember that?? I knew a couple girls named Frances but folks just called them Frances or Fran. On the other hand, my grandmother's name actually was Fanny. In either case, Frances will soon be having a flaming fanny, just as you suggest . Thanks, Phil
It may have been more common in Commonwealth Countries. However, American Revolution hero General Ethan Allen's second wife and their daughter were both named Frances and known as Fanny so it is not unknown in the USA.
