Probably so. I've never tried it in real life, but someone had been writing about using an Instrument for a spanking. I'm sure they meant an Implement, but it got me thinking: A guitar would be too big to use as a paddle. A violin wouldn't be flat enough. But maybe a ukulele?

Something I cannot understand about the USA. You can vote, marry or be sent off to be killed in some stupid war at 18, but you can't drink alcohol until you are 21. How can you discriminate between adults?

I was here when it happened, and it doesn't make sense to me either! There was a time when the voting age was 21. And it took a constitutional amendment to change that. Protesters against the U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War asked why young men were being drafted into military service who were too young to vote. Thank goodness that was changed!

When the drinking age was changed to 21, IT WAS AFTER 18-YEAR-OLDS HAD THE RIGHT TO VOTE! I have often asked why the 18-20's didn't vote to get rid of the idiots that enacted that law.

In Australia the minimum drinking age is 18, which is the age of maturity by law. Marriage age is 16. It used to be 16 for girls and 18 for boys but under the principle of equality between the sexes the government lowered the age for boys.

Back in the 1940s my wife's parents got married when he was 19 and she was 18. She was having a child and it was decided that a caesarian was necessary, but the hospital needed her next of kin's permission (husband) to operate on her. Her mother knew where husband was but refused to tell the hospital so she lost the baby. It was a weird time.

I think every country has some kind of abrupt age of maturity. (Even though, in reality, people usually mature gradually) The day before your birthday, you're a minor, but then, all of the sudden, you're an adult.

But... how would the reality be represented by laws? I don't see a solution.
