I can't believe one of my favourite characters has been blown away by a psychotic moron of a manager

I'm fine with Katie being spanked and paddled, but I would not like to see her shot. Burns was getting tiresome.

Hi, Solsunbeach. Thanks for commenting.
I suppose there is a possibility that I could do a twist in a future story, in which his death was faked so he could go on a deep undercover assignment. (That trick was done in a James Bond movie)
He was one of your favorites?
One of your favorite characters? Really? I invented Agent Burns, and I never liked him much.solsunbeach wrote: ↑Sun Nov 12, 2023 7:11 am I can't believe one of my favourite characters has been blown away by a psychotic moron of a manager

Hi, WillJohn. Thanks for commenting.
The point to that story is that S.P.A.N.K. and Mr. Argyle DO have a double standard... but it's actually in the girls' favor. Neither Katie nor Marie will be shot for any of their misdeeds. Both of them have spankings in their future.
That's what I thought. Solsunbeach disagrees. I haven't decided yet whether his "death" is a hoax or not.

Evil and calculating characters whose only desire is to get Katie over there knees are always the most interesting

The Bond movie was "You Only Live Twice." The title was taken from one of Ian Fleming's strangest books with the film having little resemblance to the book.

But what about Argyle? He's evil and calculating, but you called him a psychotic moron. What's the difference? Other than Argyle has a position of authoriity, which he consistently abuses. (Along with abusing Katie's derriere!solsunbeach wrote: ↑Tue Nov 14, 2023 4:51 am Evil and calculating characters whose only desire is to get Katie over there knees are always the most interesting

I saw that movie once. It didn't make a lot of sense at the time, and I don't remember much of it now.

Argyle doesn't need to do anything underhand because he already has the power over Katie, whereas Burns has to scheme his way to spanking Katie.

And the first thing he did as soon as he talked her into working for him, was to spank her for insubordination.
Argyle doesn't really have any power over Katie, other than persuasion. She doesn't need to work for S.P.A.N.K. to make a living. She has her father's bookstore as a source of income, along with backpay from a police job that she was wrongfully fired from. The only reason she took the spy gig was that he convinced her it was a patriotic thing to do.solsunbeach wrote: ↑Wed Nov 15, 2023 8:28 am Argyle doesn't need to do anything underhand because he already has the power over Katie, whereas Burns has to scheme his way to spanking Katie.

Re: All Saints Day Part 2
Well, that was unexpected!
I'm certainly not disturbed by the double standard at S.P.A.N.K. and I doubt anyone else here is either - besides, as B00m noted, it's in favor of the girls - but the sudden termination of Agent Burns does raise some artistic questions. I don't think we can answer them just yet, though.
In general, how violent, how serious, can a humor strip be? Li'l Abner offers some clues: Fearless Fosdick often suffered so many bullets being shot through him he looked like swiss cheese afterward, but the effect was extremely comical because he continued on in typical block-headed fashion, undisturbed by what should have been fatal injuries. But Burns' termination doesn't fall into that category even though the scene was depicted without any excessive gore (unlike, say, pre-code crime comics).
Neither does it appear to be satire, which was frequently biting in Abner where the demise of the Shmoo, for example, was anything but comical. And could Katie support that kind of satire?
It would be a mistake to leap to any conclusions here. For one thing, we don't know yet if Burns' death is real or some sort of hoax designed to induce Katie to take on a mission that would no doubt result in her getting spanked! We're going to have to wait patiently without preconceptions and let this story develop.
