This after-spanking portrait of The Black Cat is different from the others we've seen recently because it started out as a glamor-girl painting by Alberto Vargas, with the Cat's mask, silver hair, and of course red bottom being added by Doctor Cylon. Vargas is a long-standing source of inspiration for the Good Doctor, going back to a series of four paintings he modified back in 2010 (see Vargas Girl #1 et seq.). This work goes back to the same period and in fact pre-dates it by a year, having apparently been completed in 2009, but it was among the many pieces Doc didn't realize he had never sent us. That is, until 2019-21 when he delivered a treasure-trove us that included this one and a lot of others we hope to live long enough to post.
The coloring here is quite subtle, as anything too garish would be completely out of step with
Vargas's own approach, which artistically speaking is except for the composition rather elegant
understatement (obviously, having a naked woman lolling around just waiting for someone to
join her on the bed or floor cannot be called "understatement). |
