It's hard for us to believe that Kitty Pryde (Shadowcat) goes all the way back to
X-Men #129 (January 1980) at a time when we were still reading the book, before editor-in-chief
Jim Shooter ordered Jean Grey killed off and writer Chris Claremont's sappy
political correctness was no longer contained by artist John Byrne's shallow but effective
"clean line, strong action, big tits" approach to drawing the strip. She was certainly
the youngest X-Man up to that time, but she spent many years on and off the team after that
and is much older in this drawing from an artist apparently named "Julie".
She's had a lot of costumes over the years, although the bare-bottomed special she's sporting here
was the creation of Doctor Cylon, who skillfully re-colored the skin-tight blue leggings
in the original painting and added two gold bands on each thigh to cover the alteration. Of course
he also added two bare bottoms, one for each version. Of the two we think we prefer the first
as the color blending is more subtle, but the second does have the virtue of indicating a
more vigorous spanking.
