In our celebration of the 70th Anniversary of the Broadway opening of Kiss Me, Kate [1948-2018] we now present publicity photos from the later years of the 1950s. By this time in the history of Kiss Me, Kate the play is now being licensed for local presentations such as colleges, high schools and community theatre. I think that the fact that in 1953 the producers relied heavily on the spanking scene to publicize the screen version of the musical made using the spanking a popular image to capture in local newspapers.

More excellent photos, Phil! Once again we see the great interest a spanking scene arouses in ordinary, "vanilla" people.
