17th Anniversary Status Report

Post by web-ed »

Yes, it was around this date in 2004 that CSR opened its doors to greet a breathless and expectant world  ! Can you believe I forgot to make a note of the exact date we went live? (Future scholars and historians will no doubt try to identify the exact moment that history was made.)

I think everybody more or less understands the current situation: I love CSR and have no plans to give it up, but battered on all fronts and exhausted as I am I can barely manage one or two updates per week while at the same time keeping the lights on (site maintenance) and trying to read Web-Ed's mail. I can't even manage to keep up with everything that's posted on this board. And yet the updates keep coming and the page count keeps slowly increasing - the CSR main site is up to 1671 pages (that is, individual web pages), most of which contain at least one spanking. As for the Bulletin Board, we have over 15,000 posts here and Heaven knows how many images!

That's actually pretty close to an average of two weekly updates for 17 years, and that's not bad even though I wish it could be more. I really should try to get a female assistant, but who's going to accept an employment package that includes no pay, no benefits, and a spanking every time you screw up?

Of the cartoons in this series, this is perhaps the best and the most typical of the Karstens/Bard team, featuring a consensual spanking, good OTK positioning, and a careful balance between humor and eroticism in both BB's conception and Karstens' execution.
Wow! I like this one! Like you said good OTK positioning, careful balance of humor and eroticism! (What Dave Wolfe calls the "hilarity and horniness factor")

Weekly Updates for 04/22/2021

Post by web-ed »

  • We continue our series featuring the many contributions of Bawdy Bard with the first and only known cartoon based on the Family Circus comic strip.
  • Then Doctor Cylon is on hand to begin a new series featuring Jessica Rabbit: Jessica TU :) .
As I wrote above, this is the first and only Family Circus spanking cartoon that I'm aware of, but there was a "2" in its original file name so the intriguing possibility exists that an earlier cartoon may have been created. Bawdy Bard did not mention one in the notes he provided me, but who knows?

We needed a new series of Doctor Cylon works to take us to Super-Spanking Summer (at which time we'll start doing his superheroine stuff, of course), and I selected one of his favorite subjects, Jessica Rabbit, for the purpose. There are about 80 "Jessica" drawings in his folder, some of which we've seen at least in alternate versions and some we haven't. This is the first of two based on the art of Chuck Bauman, who like Julius Zimmerman seems rather boob-obsessed, but we can always trust the Good Doctor to get a red bottom in there somewhere, and he doesn't disappoint ;) !

Next Week: We continue the Bawdy Bard series with the Calvin and Hobbes comic strip and The Humorama Series with another cartoon from George Morrice . I haven't gotten either of these coded yet but I'll do my best. :)

I actually remember when Family Circus was first introduced. Hmmmmm! I admit I'm not really familiar with bondage practices... but it seems unusual that he's wearing a collar with a chain, which would indicate that he's the submissive in the relationship... but she's the one getting spanked. Oh well. Better her than him!

I love Jessica! It would be even better to see a spanking in progress. but I'm happy with the aftermath.

I remember Jessica in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" as being of a much more slender build.

Family Circus shows a good spanking, gives the kids something to think about :?

Weekly Updates for 04/30/2021

Post by web-ed »

  • We continue our series featuring the many contributions of Bawdy Bard with a cartoon based on the Calvin and Hobbes comic strip.
  • Then The Humorama Series continues with Frogface Spanking :) .
Another health crisis in the family this week almost kept me from getting these updates done, and I can't promise much for next week although I'm going to try for another entry in the Jessica Rabbit / Doctor Cylon series. And so now it's late and I'm tired and probably forgetting things I was supposed to mention, but regarding this week's updates:
  1. We're near the end of the Bawdy Bard Series, with only one more entry to go. There are a few items that I'm leaving out of the series and I'll try to say a little more about them when we get there.
  2. We still have a few more previously-unseen cartoons from the Humorama Series, including one more from George Morrice (that is, one more after this week's). We now stand at #226 in the Series, pending future adjustments (and there may be some as I think at least two of these cartoons probably came from non-Humorama publications). This week's "Frogface Spanking" is, I think, a fairly good one, as is the final Morrice cartoon we'll see at the end of May.
Now, the reorganizing of the Humorama cartoon numbering last year should have made it easier to keep everything in sync, i.e. #226 in the galleries should agree with #226 in the Data Base and of course the total number of cartoons in each place (as well as the Humorama Tote Board here on the Forum) should match. Yet today I found we were two short in the DB because I had forgotten to add the last two updates posted  ! Mistakes like that make me very unhappy, but they're inevitable when I'm under this much strain. Everything is corrected now (including an invalid URL for the Ward "Fireman's Carry" spanking I stumbled on to, in case anyone had been trying to view it and gotten an error message).

I remember when I was in 4th class at a Marist Brothers School the year started with a Brother in charge of the class. He had a difficult name that started with f so the boys called him "Frogface." After the first term he was replaced by a lay teacher, Mr Griffiths, who was a World War I veteran. This was nearly 40 years after that war ended so as you could imagine he was a man of a great age. He would often talk about his experience in Turkey and France.

That's interesting, Willjohn. "Frogface" certainly does sound like it came somewhere from the English-speaking world (I found a British address for Morrice dating from the 50s, so he presumably was not an Australian). Perhaps "Frogface" originated in England and was spread to Australia, the U.S., and Canada :) .

Hi Web-ed.

I like your two updates this week.
web-ed wrote: Thu Apr 29, 2021 10:14 pm We continue our series featuring the many contributions of Bawdy Bard with a cartoon based on the Calvin and Hobbes comic strip.
Two peripheral characters from a well-known comic, drawn in a semi-realistic way. A touch of eroticism with a lot of humor. Calvin's reaction is what most of us might expect. We can tell by the look on the woman's face that this spanking is not a punishment! ;) ;) ;) ;)
web-ed wrote: Thu Apr 29, 2021 10:14 pm Then The Humorama Series continues with Frogface Spanking.

The OTK positioning is adequate but not great, with the wife's hips elevated some distance above he husband's lap. Morrice makes up for this by presenting her buttocks as a very shapely target (something he usually achieved when he avoided making them too oversized as he sometimes did) and by her expression of discomfiture, so typical of him.
I agree with your analysis of Mr. Morrice's technique. Maybe she's being pulled back into position after an attempt to escape her punishment? I don't know, but I like the shapely bottom, the lace-trimmed panties, and the look on her face.

I think she must have already known that her husband's boss wasn't really named "Frogface"! She certainly earned the spanking she got!

The English referred to the French as "frogs" during WWII, and American servicemen picked it up. Maybe the husband's boss was French.

But what's the deal with the man's hair? Maybe he needs to be introduced to a hairbrush! (for both of its purposes!)

Weekly Updates for 05/07/2021

Post by web-ed »

As I mentioned last week, I had another big crisis to deal with but luckily most of the updates were ready to go so we didn't fall behind. Of course those events have caught up to us now, and all I could manage this week was another update from the ever-reliable (and prolific) Doctor Cylon: Jessica Bends Over, which doesn't require a lot of explanation ;) . Thanks, Doc - I (and all of us at CSR) can always count on you!

Also, my FTP application tells me somebody (I'll bet his initials are HugoB00m  ) has been uploading attachments to the board again - so thanks, B00m. You and Doc Cylon have carried the ball for us once again. Wish I had time to see them, but that will have to wait until I've opened the mail box after about a month of enforced neglect.

Next Week: We reluctantly conclude the Bawdy Bard Series and I'm sure I'll have a few words (let's hope they're brief!) to say.

That will leave us with two weeks to program before the beginning of this year's Super-Spanking Summer, including another Humorama cartoon, none of which has been coded yet. I suppose we'll have more of Jessica Rabbit plus something to put us in the mood for summer, like girls, bikinis, spanking....hmmmm. Stay with us, won't you? :)

Mmmm, she certainly does! I had not been familiar with the work of Chuck Bauman, so I looked up the name on Google. He reminds me a bit of Julius Zimmerman. Most of the girls in his pictures have enormous boobs, with enough curve to their butts to be of interest on this site.

I saw another picture by Mr. Bauman that I thought could use some butt-reddening.

Here's the original:

Why not? He titled it "Hot Seat"!

Yes, I have been uploading attachments.

My latest O.T. Katie story involves a case of mistaken identity, and the return of a character from 2010 that WillJohn had requested to see again.

Of course, Katie once more finds herself in the titular situation! :D :D :D :D

Weekly Updates for 05/14/2021

Post by web-ed »

"Hot Seat" indeed, B00m! Who could resist a title like that? (No one around here, that's for sure.) Nice going!

While finally trying to look through the mail this week, I made a peculiar discovery. There was some 2020 correspondence from Pewdiepie regarding Veronica Whacks Betty #2, and when I checked, it looked like I began coding an update to the page but never finished! I barely even remembered anything about it. That's bad - the result of overwork and stress plus lack of time - but it's fixed up now. The issue was trying to find out where this one-whacker came from, and Pewdie did that, so the page is now updated accordingly (and I better update the Data Base before I forget). No new spanking scans, but anyone interested can follow the link to see just where Archie Comics printed this spanking, at least for the second time.

This week's update is Hi Spanks Lois, obviously from the Hi and Lois comic strip. I think it's a worthy conclusion to the Bawdy Bard Series and I'd like to say "Thanks" to BB along with his frequent collaborator Kevin Karstens for having contributed so much to CSR over the years. I don't know how many BB cartoons we have posted here, but it's a lot (do a search on "Bawdy Bard" from the box on the Home Page if you're curious).

I had a second surprise this week when I discovered that neither man was on the Contributors List at the bottom of the Home Page - and after years of printing their stuff  ! How could that have happened? Well, the problem is that like so much else at CSR it's an entirely manual process, which means I have to remember to add each contributor's name. Hope I haven't forgotten anyone else.

Unprinted cartoons: this is the only Hi and Lois cartoon we're going to be seeing for now. There is some indication that a #2 existed at one time, but neither BB nor I has it in his possession now. A #3 definitely does exist (Chip spanking his mother Lois) and it's certainly not without merit, but I decided to be careful about printing any more son/mother spankings with erotic overtones.

Finally, let me repeat the last paragraph I wrote on the Hi and Lois page:

"That also brings us to the end of our current BB Series; however, there are a couple of ways we may yet see more from his fertile imagination on CSR. First, BB sent us some cartoons he found but did not write, and we may post some time in the future those that were not already in our files. Second, BB entrusted us with some of his ideas for even more spanking cartoons, and should we ever be in a financial position to do so we might very well commission one or more artists to bring them to life. Finally, any CSR reader over the age of
eighteen who would like to see those of his cartoons in our possession but not printed here should contact us - we might be able to put them in a compressed folder and send them to you, although we wouldn't be getting to it anytime soon given the very tight constraints on our
time to answer emails."

I don't usually care for the inclusion of "bondage" elements, but this one is so clearly consensual that I can't really object,
web-ed wrote: Thu May 13, 2021 5:22 pmHere that involves combining the original cartoonist's style with his own more realistic one, the greater realism leading to increased eroticism as a determined-looking Hi is giving a grateful Lois the very good spanking she obviously needs. big grin
The drawing looks enough like the work of the original Hi and Lois artist to fulfill the requirements of a parody... but the increased curviness of Lois's derriere, and the more muscular arm of Hi add to the fun of the spanking.

Weekly Updates for 05/21/2021

Post by web-ed »

  • To help us get into the mood for summer, Doctor Cylon provides twelve new versions of Julius Zimmerman's Jessica Rabbit on the Beach to add to those we posted ten years ago :) .
  • For the same reason I have made the first new post in four years - Ann Keith - under the topic "Humorama Models to See More of" on the Bulletin Board. She'll take us back to the days when polka-dot bikinis were in style and remind us that women wearing them should be spanked!
I'm in a hurry right now (what else is new?) so I'll just remark that I do have a lot of Humorama non-spanking material (as well as some live model spanking photos) that I might start posting once we get through the remaining three cartoons in my files. We might even see some more of the models in bikinis during the summer if I can manage it (a big "if") in addition to the regular superheroine fare for Super-Spanking Summer, which begins two weeks from now.

Next week: The Humorama Series continues with the last of the George Morrice Humorama cartoons (I have one more of his that seems to date from a later period), and we'll see three girls in bikinis who like spanking! :)

These are funny. It looks like the original concept might have been a take-off of the old Coppertone ad, with the dog pulling a little girl's swim trunks down. That's been done a lot, and is always more interesting when a grown woman has her bikini bottom pulled down.

A lot of artists like to do things with Jessica Rabbit. I haven't myself... but I do have a thing about pretty redheads with hourglass figures! ;) ;) ;) ;)

It's nice to see one of these old Humorama photos. Cute woman! The fact that she's sitting so comfortably must mean that she hasn't had her spanking yet.
