I think it was a good idea to tie up the loose end from Katie's recent birthday bash, especially since doing so involves Dupli-Kate getting her just desserts in the form of a spanking! I appreciate neatness (i.e. seeing loose ends get tied up) and all of us here at CSR like to see justice done .

I couldn't help noticing that the spanking takes place near Madame Amanda's fortune-telling parlor (panel 6). I don't suppose any of us needs a crystal ball to see another spanking in Katie's future , yet I wonder if there is some significance in this particular place of business to a future story line?

That's what I thought. I'm glad you appreciated it. Dupli-Kate certainly deserved a spanking for tricking Katie with that time-warp! Maybe Katie deserved a spanking for letting herself be fooled so easily... but she already got her spanking from the cowboy on the other side of the time-warp and another one from the clean-up man when he rescued her.

I didn't know whether anyone ever noticed the storefronts when Katie is walking downtown. The sign for Madam Amanda Amadan was originally intended for a story that I scrapped. Like you said, we don't need a crystal ball to know Katie has a spanking in her future. So, instead, the fortune-telling parlor is just another business she walks past when she's downtown.

I went back and checked, and they were in front of Marcy's Books when Dupli-Katie conned Katie into using a time-warp.

I made backgrounds of Marcy's Books, Madam Amanda Amadan's fortune-telling parlor, and Dick's "C" Diner, (a play on "Dixie Diner" a great harmonica instrumental by Greg Taylor, a member of Jimmy Buffet's band) to show Katie walking downtown.

I used Dick's "C" Diner as the place Katie went out to supper with Kaylyn and Jack. The rest of the time it's just part of the downtown background.

Madam Amanda Amadan's fortune-telling parlor was going to be part of a story, but I wound up scrapping that one. However, I kept the storefront for part of the downtown background. Incidentally, "Amadan" is a Celtic word meaning "fool". I remember hearing it used in Braveheart.

Marcy's Books is the store that Katie's father owned and later passed on to Katie. (Why "Marcy's"? Marcy was the original owner. Katie's father decided to keep the name when he bought her out, and Katie has kept the original name too.) Bullmoose got a job managing the store while it was still in the hands of Katie's father. (So actually Katie is Bullmoose's boss, but that has never stopped him from spanking her when she needs to be spanked! )

Yeah. I went back and checked, and it was the closest bus stop bench to Marcy's Books. (And the fortune-telling parlor is there too... but I just noticed that I haven't been consistent with whether it's north or south of Marcy's Books... Ooops! )
