Katie wonders if she gets caught without panties, will she be spanked?

Now, there's not a whole lot of doubt about the answer to that question , and indeed Katie is about the only person on Earth who doesn't know what that answer is - which is an important part of the humor. (We could say the same thing about the predicate if unstated question, "Will Katie get caught not wearing panties?")

But there's another point I'd like to make, if it isn't already obvious and if I haven't made it before, which is that this particular element of predictability is in no way detrimental to the strip. First, a strong element of suspense is not necessary for a story to be good: Tolstoy's "The Death of Ivan Ilyich" is not a poor story just because we pretty much know from the title that ol' Ivan isn't going to come out of it alive.

Second, there is suspense in O.T. Katie, but it isn't so much (or at all) "Will Katie get spanked?" but "Who is going to spank Katie," "Where and when will she get spanked," "Why is she going to be spanked," and "How will she be spanked?"

I'm sure B00m will come up with some unlucky but funny circumstance that results in Katie's bare bottom being revealed and, of course, the requisite punishment being administered.

I agree. The element of surprise is important in some kinds of stories. I'm still upset after all these years that the first time I saw Psycho, someone sitting next to me revealed the secret that wasn't supposed to be known until the end!

Other stories depend on the anticipation of the expected. One good example of an entertaining story with no surprises would be McLintock! Pre-release publicity made it clear that Maureen O'Hara was going to get spanked. The anticipation of a spanking made it more enjoyable every time she said or did something deserving of the "end result"!

I do try to throw in a few plot twists now and then. Of course I've pre-empted any surprises about WHETHER Katie will be spanked by naming my strip O.T. Katie, and the picture on my title page.

And in the next episode, I don't think there's any doubt that Katie's bare bottom will be exposed. No panties. Short pleated skirt. Windy day.

I think the only unanswered question here is, "Who is going to spank Katie?" Or maybe, "Who will spank Katie FIRST?"

Convenient for Yank how new laws are advertised on walls? I cannot see Katie avoiding further spankings before she gets a pair of knickers.
