Just so you know, when it comes to attaching a pillow to a bottom, there is a great pic of it in one of the Links, Spanking Art and Toons. The comic is a story called Beach Volleyball Brat and the pillow pic is the last panel.
Always love seeing "after the spanking" pics, whether it be pain stars, rubbing, and my favorite, use of a pillow.
Talk about dedication to collecting spanking material! The Rex Morgan from the Milwaukee Sentinel 1950 is one I have not seen before. Only a mention, but certainly worth including. Those were the great days of newspaper strip comics serials.

Two anniversaries in what has already been a busy week for me with the closing of the Artastic Forum (see the details in the Miscellaneous Spanking forum if you haven't already heard). First, Doctor Cylon's 150th piece in his gallery features an unusual spankee, Jane Jetson, held in place with a futuristic bondage device; second, he added another version of what is almost his 100th work (it was actually 101) with some per-verses.

And speaking of verses, I've been working on several articles and special features lately, one of which is The Humorama Spanking Verses. We've actually seen these before over on the "Spanking in Media" forum, but I decided to do a regular web page of them as well in the Humor Gallery. Perhaps in March we'll have an expanded version of Humorama Spanking Positions.

The weekly Humorama Series continues with more of Kirk Stiles, this time a scene in which friendly game of cards somehow leads to a spanking.

The other anniversary is the 500th spanking in the Comics Spanking Data Base! That's a whole lot of spanking by anyone's standards, and when I created the DB less than two years ago I never guessed we'd reach this point at all. I thought it might eventually reach, say, 200. But then came the Great Golden Age Search, plus a whole lot of strips. Of course, they're not all our preferred M/F orientation, but I did include a filter you can use to list only the M/F ones. Which brings me to the next point:

With the DB as large as it now is, I'm going to have to add some additional search capability. Recently, I needed to search it by time period (e.g. from 1980-89) to get some statistics for a 4-part article I'm writing on the Comics Code. I was able to do it by writing my own SQL query, but that doesn't do the rest of you any good, so it looks like I've got some more PHP coding to do. Also, with so many rows, we need to see how many are displayed from a given query. Can't say when I'll get around to it, though, since I'm still doing four updates per week plus special features.

I wish I'd had a really special Golden Age scene to be the 500th spanking, but the only GA one I had was from Big Top, so it got the nod. I actually have discovered where I believe five more GA spankings are lurking, but I haven't been able to get hold of the books. So we'll have to make do with Butch the Clown, who spanks a stuffy society matron. I've been holding back some other, DB-only items (i.e. that will not be posted) so we may be close to 510 next week! Stay tuned as we begin a series of spankings in foreign comics with an issue of Memin Pinguin that has three spankings of a very stubborn young lady!

the position of Jane Jetson is indeed one that's hard to miss.............especially for doc cylon i like the coloring on her bottom and the irritated look on her face. the way she looks, she doesn't seem to be sorry for her transgression yet...............more spanking perhaps . i'll say one thing for Paolo Serpieri, he sure can draw a nicely rounded bottom...........just the way i like them . i love the poem too. wouldn't you just love to have a woman with an attitude like that ? well, i don't have the answer to whether Abe Goodman was a spanko or not but he certainly had the proper attitude about spanking, as well as a sense of humor . anyway, i like the verses and thanks for the history lesson about them . as you noted, there are a number of problems with the Kirk Stiles drawing but i like the fact that he went from dealing off the bottom to dealing ON her bottom . as far as the "Big Top" spanking goes, at least it was M/F and there was some interesting history there. more good updates. thanks, phil

Another great week. What a fantastic job Doc Dylon did on the Serpieri! She showed what a well-paddled bottom looks like in a great fashion.Not one of these spanking pics you see where there is only a patch of reddened skin, and the rest of the bottom is untouched.
Loved the Humorama verse. That model Jasmine would look great being spanked in that bikini she is wearing.
Loved the line"he spanks when I make him sore." Real justice. She makes him sore, so he makes her sore in another fashion, and sore in the place where bratty women need to be sore!
The Big Top comic was good-I like the idea of "stuffy society matrons" getting a good spanking. Too bad he didnt lift her dress and spank on the seat of her panties.

What is "Globat Login" and why is it blocking the main page?

Is CSR supposed to be up or down? I cannot get into it. What is "Globat Login" and why is it blocking the main page?

Willjohn - CSR came up some time early Friday morning (Chicago time). Unfortunately I didn't see your earlier post until today, when I sent an email response. If you're still getting the "globat login" (this is called a "park page" and was put up by my web host, globat, in place of the site) at this point, it's because it's in your browser's internet cache. Phil had the same problem (see the "Announcements" forum for details). Purge the cache from "Internet Options" or "Tools" (depending on which browser you use), or hit your browser's "reload" button to force it to go back out to the web server and pull a fresh copy of the page. This is a useful technique any time you think a site has been updated but you're still getting the old page.

The problem was caused by spambots, who make 300 attempts per week to join this board. Although I delete them all as inactive members, which stops them from advertising cheap Viagra on the board, I forgot that they could still search the site using the search box at the top of the page. The searches eventually took up so many resources that my host, globat, took CSR down temporarily while I worked on the problem behind the scenes.

I took this "guest search" capability away (everyone will notice that there is no search box there until you sign in now), so we should be o.k. in the future.

As a general explanation for anyone who may not know, the cache is where your browser stores a page after you've called it up the first time. After that, the next time you call the page, the browser tries to save time by pulling the page from the cache rather that downloading from the server again. This saves time, but you also get the old version of the page if it's been changed since it was put in the cache. You could miss an update that way, or in this case, if the old page was a "park page", that's all you get when you try to visit again even though the correct page is there on the server now!

The cache may be purged manually, or may be purged automatically when you close the browser, or old pages may get "pushed" out depending on the size limit you have specified for the cache. These things may all be changed from your browser's settings.

A pretty busy week here with five updates. For links please visit the Home Page (click on "Chicago Spanking Review" at the top of this or any other Forum page to get there).

• Doctor Cylon finds a spanker who looks just like Data from Star Trek: The Next Generation!
• We revisit Kirk Stiles' fatherly interest spanking with a new scan from Dan Rivera.
• Humorama Series #77: The tropical island with only a man and woman on it was a popular setting for cartoonists, and as we see, two people are enough for one spanking! I believe this one has never appeared on the Web before.
• Another spanking from Mexico with Memin Pinguin.
• One of the worst theme songs of all time belonged to the old TV Western series Bonanza, but like its cousin Rawhide, it did have three spankings and we'll see two of them in this video extra. These have certainly been seen around before, at least one of them having been put on YouTube by Chross, but they're both fairly decent scenes so we re-edited them for CSR. Once again, it was Robin who pointed us in the right direction.

Comic spankings added to the Comics Spanking Data Base that will not be posted:

1. Mazie #29 (August 1958) - Brod/Mortie M/M paddling. Mortie is Mazie's boyfriend, Brod is her kid brother. Another Archie-imitator, from Harvey. This was the last issue, and if M/M scenes were the best Harvey could come up with, it deserved to be.
2. Rangers #29 (June 1946) - this is the first of two known spankings given by Glory Forbes to her nephew Denis. He's a total brat here, and four others line up for their chance to spank him too. Nice art by George Tuska – pity Glory herself wasn't spanked. By the debased standards of F/M, this is a pretty good scene, but because of the orientation and the fact that Denis is a juvenile there's no way I'd post it.
3. Tip Top #219 (November 1959) Dell – (Nancy) Rollo's robot Awbry spanks Nancy, Rollo himself, and Rollo's father! Apparently DC didn't have a monopoly on robot-spanking, and Nancy had three of them in this one story!
4. Little Lulu – Father / Wilbur Van Snobbe. The kid probably deserved it, but it's not getting posted.
5. Little Lulu – Mother / Lulu (different story); gold ring mentioned in caption.

I certainly don't go looking for these (mostly) kiddie spankings, and I would be content to simply have the DB reflect that there were a number of spankings in strips like Nancy. But even though I'm not determined to document them the way I am adult M/F spankings in, say, Romance and Super-Hero comics, when they do turn up I am going to list them in the DB. Interested persons can look the details up in the DB by searching on "Title" or by spanker or by spankee.

The Memim Penguin double spanking is among the top comics spankings around. He sure gave her a good one, nice if there'd been something afterwards, showing her sitting on a stack of pillows or eating off the mantelpiece,either of which she would have needed to do after spankings like those.
Nice to have the clear Dan Rivera of the Stiles one. And those are certainly sexy panties she is wearing.
The desert island spanking I am sure will once again cause us to lament that there never were any spankings on Gilligan's Island.
Nice to have the Bonanza clips, but I must disagree about one point. I loved the show, and the theme music.

the pic colored by Doc Cylon is indeed by Paula Meadows. i found this copy in the "Paula" folder of my storage drive. i just love Paula's drawings. she has such a great talent for drawing the female body plus she seems to really understand that spanking is both a painful and an arousing sexual activity. nice coloring by Doc Cylon as usual . thanks to Dan for the new scan of the Kirk Stiles "fatherly interest" spanking. this copy is so much better. you can see the face of the spankee and her expression much better...............as well as everything else of course. the reason i bring up her expression is that i think in this scan, the eye contact between the spanker and spankee is obvious. it seems clear to me that there is some unspoken communication between them, as well as the communication between his hand and her bottom . interesting how that extra clarity brings out important details that were lost in the other one. your comment about the strange position of the spankee in the Stiles "island spanking" got me to wondering. he does indeed show her plump bottom and legs very well in this one. what do you think the chances are that he used this strange position just so he could show her from more from the rear rather than the side? maybe he was less interested in the accuracy of the position and more interested in showing her bottom from behind. perhaps the artists were more interested in the overall message conveyed than accuracy. just as you commented about the setting being masterfully "suggested", perhaps Stiles thought the spanking would be better suggested by showing her bottom better? anyone else got any thoughts about this? i like the Memim Pinguin spankings......................good story although i wish i could read more of the dialog. that is indeed a strange position his arm in is in the cover pic. the spanker's legs are indeed out of proportion on the cover, almost as if they were an after thought and not really important. thanks for the trip down memory lane with the Bonanza spankings. i have, of course, seen these before back in those thrilling days of yesteryear but it was nice to see them again . good updates. thanks, phil

Thanks, Web-ed, for crediting me with the new scan of Kirk Stiles' "fatherly interest" toon. It's little touches like this that give your website that extra touch of class, and encourage your members to seek out more scans of favorite toons.

Thanks, too, for posting the two spankings from Bonanza. Because this was such a popular show, those scenes have been posted before, if not here then on other boards. Still, there are a few things that completists may wish to know, to wit:

1. In Love Me Not, an early episode of Bonanza, actress Anjanette Comer portrays the young white woman who was raised by Indians. Feisty and untamed, she gets spanked by Ben Cartwright (Lorne Greene); but when she goes over his knee, her head disappears from our view behind the back of a chair. Still, sharp viewing will reveal that there is no discontinuity in the action, no cuts. Thus, it was truly Miss Comer who took those swats, and there were twelve of them, all sharply delivered.

2. In 1965's Woman of Fire, the character played by Joan Hackett is supposedly spanked by Adam Cartwright (Pernell Roberts). However, the few swats that we see -- three (3) of them, out of a supposedly lengthy spanking -- are surely taken by a stunt double. We see Adam take Miss Hackett by the shoulders, then there is a cutaway shot; next, we see Adam spanking some woman he has trapped under his left arm for three (3) swats; then, more cutaway shots. And finally, he lets Miss Hackett up, she glowers at him but says nothing. I'm pretty sure the swats were taken by a double, not by Miss Hackett.

But it may be of some comfort to know that the young woman you have identified as "a female servant" to Hackett's character is played by Susan Silo, who DID receive a real spanking herself, a year earlier, in the 1964 episode of McHale's Navy entitled Babette, Go Home.

Lots of helpful comments from everyone! First, thanks to Phil for providing the original version by Paula Meadows for this week's Doctor Cylon episode. I have already added it to the page. Phil also commented on the new Stiles piece:

I think the chances are very good that Stiles did want to feature her bottom by choosing this position. Stiles probably varied his spanking positions more than any other of the Humorama "Big Five" artists, perhaps mainly for variety's sake, and he occasionally chose a camera angle that did show off the spankee's behind, although I can only think of one or two that were like this one. I strongly suspect his personal interests were more directed toward the female bosom than behind, and when I finally get around to my "Big Five" article I will adduce some non-spanking examples of his art as evidence of this. (Even in his "spankers", you'll notice that the spankee's top is often precariously close to falling off, which would have been considered rather suggestive back in the 50's).

I like your idea of kidnapping a spoiled heiress and confining her on a desert island so that she can be spanked repeatedly, Butch, but all those old Tropical Island cartoons (even this spanking one) were based around another gag: that the woman can't escape the sexual advances of the man. (Come to think of it, they were on mighty shaky ground, but we'll forgive them). In this case, our spanker wants more sex so he isn't ready to leave the island just yet, and that's why he spanks her.

Dan contributed much information on the Bonanza spanking episodes - thanks for all that detailed info, Dan! He also mentioned

Like Phil, I knew about the McHale's Navy spanking scene but I didn't even recognize her! You can see a still image of that spanking right here on CSR in Michael Gray's article Spanked Daughters of the Slapstick which I posted about a year ago.

I liked the Bonanza spankings myself, and my only hesitation about posting them was that everyone had probably seen them before. I think it's fair to say that my next spanking video will be new to almost everyone, since its subject is a real-life disciplinary paddling. It's actually already out there because I forgot to "hide" the code on the Video Page, which is mostly how I keep future updates already coded from appearing too soon. Anyway, we'll have a link to it in a week or two.

Finally, Tanner rose to defend Bonanza:

You know, I wondered when I wrote that about the theme if I should have specified that it was only the rarely-heard lyrics that were truly awful, and I guess I should have. Here is a sample of them:

Really like the theme song to Rawhide better sounds like a manly tune with the crack of the whip and all The two Bonanza`s spanking was both great even though Ben deliever a much harder spanking than Adam did But the best spanking I saw on tv was in McHale`s Babette Go Home! you're right. these words do suck pretty bad the music from the theme is an older style compared to the more modern Mission: Impossible theme which was more of a high energy jazz piece in 5/4 time and also featured such "modern" ideas as flutes being used in jazz work. thanks, phil
