the drawing by Adams is a strange one. his use of light and shadow gives this a very odd effect and i definitely think it takes away from any erotic effect...............which i thought there was in the caning drawing you posted last week because if the well drawn bottoms of the girls. the girl getting the cane isn't too bad and has a fairly nice bottom but the girl waiting seems somewhat hideous because of the over use of shadow. i can't say i personally care for this one but i did find your discussion to be interesting as usual. i definitely liked "A Man for Amy" . there's nothing i like better than a brat except seeing that brat get her comeuppance ...............so thanks and a tip of the hat to Stan Lee for getting right to the bottom of this short story ................and HOLY COWpoke! we have an honest to goodness OTK position used by our hero . i agree with you about the need for more definition of her bottom. it just looks kind of like a big blob when a shapely, wiggling fanny was indicated. all in all, i thought this was a damn good one though. it's always nice when we have the details of a spanking . thanks for the good updates. i'll be anxiously awaiting the CSR first you have for us next week . phil

BIG THUMBS UP for My Own Romance # 24 a Man for Amy the build up was great love the fiestyness of the woman this is what make the spanking she about to get so much better the otk was fine just that Amy bottom although big wasn`t very shapely in those jeans!also like when she knew this was the right man for her! I believe plenty of women even today would love for a man to take her in hand read lots of Romance novels written by women that had the herione spanked by a man that loved her anyway this is a GREAT spanking in a Romantic comic! That would be my only complaint about this comic. I can think of several artists who probably would've given Amy's backside a more pleasing round shape. Maybe I can try a touch-up on the crucial panel. But, all-in-all, this is my kind of story! The girl is a brat. The man is patient... up to a point. And best of all, we have a happy ending! In the final panel they declare their love for each other... and he warns her of the consequences of any further bratty behavior. And best of all, it's one I've never seen before!

Well Dan, I do like to group items together that have something in common, which is why I'm so fussy on the index pages. But in this case, it really was sheer coincidence! That Adams caning should have been posted in January, and could very well have failed to make the cut altogether since it's not very erotic as Phil noted. But it was just unusual enough to get my attention, and by coincidence (again!) Frank Robbins happened to draw that Johnny Hazard panel in such a way we couldn't see the spankee's face.

The four romance comic spankings we're going to see this month are all personal discoveries of mine, B00m, so they should be new to everyone in the spanking world. Outside of a few Golden Age collectors, no one has seen them since the 1950's as far as I know!

Next Week: A hitherto unsuspected spanking from EC Comics, one of the most important publishers in comics history! This is actually the second known EC spanking, which is remarkable considering the company published only a few romance comics. Another CSR historic first!

Wow! Another CSR first! The drawing isn't the best I've ever seen... but, hey! It's a romance story and a pretty girl gets spanked! I'm happy!

The similarity between this story and the Combat Casey one is probably more thatn a coincidence, but maybe the writer was hoping that since one was a war comic and the other was a romance comic, that no one would see both of them and compare.

i too am not sure just what species this is . i really like M/F human spanking but it's nice to know that other species recognize the value of a good spanking . actually kind of like the high camera angle on this one. we get a good look at her distressed face as well as a nice outline on her bottom . i thought the story of Bill and Nancy was great. a pushy, brat gets what's coming to her...............just as it should be ................and of course, romantic too............and they lived happily ever after. i did like the view from the splash page best even though the OTK position isn't the best. i'm just gonna figure that's because she was struggling and trying to get up . she did look much more firmly positioned in the other spanking pic and this viewpoint does have some advantages. for one, we can clearly see her disbelief expressed on her face plus the view does lead the viewer's eye right to the soldiers enjoying her predicament in the background . not only a really good story with more than one spanking pic but also a CSR first . i also enjoyed the history of the comic books and also that information about this one and Combat Casey. very interesting . great job this week! thanks, phil

i'm enjoying romantic spanking month so far. and whatever the 2 creatures are it is obvious it is m/f. im just glad it's not me as his hand is so large and frightening looking. i'd rather have a swat with a paddle than that hand for sure. I loved bill and nancy's story. and they lived happily ever after, and i'm sure there were more spankings in their relationship. a woman like her doesn't change overnight! great week. all that and a Katie from b00m!

What a great spanking in Love is Blind and the guy certainly packs a hard wallop! the otk wasn`t that great but I do like seeing the flame and the word Smack! coming from Nancy`s pert rear as it is being spanked soundly also like that there was more than one panel showing the spanking plus witnesses watching! Thanks for finding a Fantastic Spanking in Comic and hope to see more Are the two creatures in artist Sgratt drawing Ogres anyway this is a good drawing with great over the knees action and again this looks like another spanking during battle the female creature does have a large bottom and the male seem to be warming it up nicely to me the battle must be on a field being the spanker is setting on a bench kinda make me want to see Shrek spanking his wife Fiona bottom THANKS!!!

On the drawing I called Speso Troppo: this one certainly got some strong reactions! In retrospect, it was probably not the finest choice for Romantic Spanking Month because the participants are non-human, reducing its eroticism considerably, and it was probably disciplinary on top of that. And no one was sure what species they were, not even me! To Willjohn they looked like Komodo Dragons, while Butch suggested ogres, which may be correct - they're too tall for gargoyles, I think. In its defense, it was recognizably M/F and was rather well-drawn by Klauth. CSR readers will be glad to know that I mostly shy away from non-human spankings, even one I discovered myself in Adventure Comics while searching through Supergirl's early Bronze Age material (it was an alien father/son scene of very little interest). There's also one from Crack, I believe, but I don't plan to post it, just put it in the Comics Spanking Data Base. I don't think I have any more in my files.

Speaking of the CSDB, Dan asked about spankings in the work of Milton Caniff. When I designed the CSDB, I used a limited number of columns (that is, fields) because I wanted them to be displayable on the web page without needing a horizontal scroll bar, something I find really obnoxious. The end result was that there is no column for "CREATORS" (or "GENRE" for that matter) and so no search query on the DB itself is possible by creator. However, because I do list significant creators under the "COMMENTS" column you can always either dump the entire contents (the default) or query the DB using the available criteria (Title, Characters, Years, etc.) and then use your browser's built-in search facility (usually found under the "Edit" menu, or by the shortcut CTRL+F) to search for a particular creator. I did this for "Caniff" and found this Mother/Daughter scene from Caniff's other famous strip, Steve Canyon. For various reasons, none of the other three scenes of interest from Steve Canyon yield Caniff's name (the spanking is off-panel in one so it's not in the DB, and I simply forgot to mention Caniff's name in the other two). I may change the CSDB some time, but that's a huge effort. I'll probably just continue to try to mention important creators under "Comments".


Daring Love #17 was well-received, I'm glad to say, and as I expected. It was a very solid and romantic M/F scene despite its ostensible disciplinary nature (something that's pretty common). Dan asked about the definition of "splash page" and while I have seen it defined in various ways, I believe the correct definition is "The first page of a story within a comic book, usually 1/2 or full page, and with the story's title lettered in large characters" (my definition). One source claimed it was any full-page drawing within the story, but that makes no sense to me.

our spanking couple is indeed romantic and a great addition to romantic spanking month . i agree with you 100% that this is the way young people really do behave. as a matter of fact, it reminds me of the first spanking i gave my high school girl friend..........................right up to the part where her pants are still on............even though everyone concerned would have been happier and more satisfied with bare bottom .............at that age, you really have to work up to that level of confidence though . we had also never talked about spanking even though i wanted it and i have no doubt that she did too. since we didn't talk about it, i can't say categorically what she was thinking but i will say that she was very loving afterward and continued to give me reasons to spank her frequently . we weren't on the couch btw. i was sitting on the arm of her mom's chair in the living room with the top half of her body in the seat, her bottom over my leg and her legs dangling down . this is indeed a very, nice, romantic scene and i hope we see more from this artist. i liked the "Modern Love 3". it was a good story and we all love seeing a spoiled, rich girl get what's coming to her . it is an odd camera angle and the star with the "slaps" in them covers up her bottom but we still get the idea. thanks for the history lesson on the artists, writers and the magazine in general. all in all, a another great CSR first. thanks for going to all the time and trouble to get this one for us. phil

Can't blame you - the "policeman spanks pretty offender" gag was used several times in the Humorama cartoons, and also appeared 20 years before that in a 1936 issue of More Fun Comics. It's a great fantasy, and as I've mentioned before, would help to unclog our court calendars, which here in the U.S. are always backlogged.

We aren't given the whole story, but we can easily imagine some of the things a teenage girl might've done to earn a trip across her boyfriend's knee. She says out loud, "I'm sorry!" but is thinking, "Finally he will do it!" This indicates that whatever provocation she provided him with was deliberate... Getting spanked by him was her intention all along!

And another previously unseen romance-themed comic! The panel that depicts the actual spanking in progress could've been drawn better, but I love the story! Great find!

The Colossal Conclusion of Romantic Spanking Month!

• Video Extra: One of the most famous spankings from television is this one of Susan Oliver in Wagon Train. Until now, the only version commonly available was one provided on the old Cinema Swats VHS tapes by CSR Resident Artist Dan Rivera many years ago. We've got a new recording we recently captured from Chicago television.
• Romance Comics Spanking: My Love Affair with a Bombshell ends up with the "bombshell" bottom up over her boyfriend's knee! Another great CSR first!

Next Week: all through March we'll be featuring updates to existing pages, so it may seem like Romantic Spanking Month is continuing if you've never seen them before.

first off, thanks for the plug for "An Alternate Proposal" . i WILL be concluding it tomorrow and we'll start a new one a week from tomorrow. thanks for all the historical information on the "Maggie Hamilton Story" . i found it all fascinating. i had seen this episode, probably at the time it first aired and recognized the name later on at some time when it was re run later in the 1960s. there were no home video recording devices at the time but i did have a rudimentary reel to reel tape recorder and a microphone so i did hustle around and set that up so that i could save the sounds of the spanking if not the actual video . of course, the first episode of Star Trek didn't air until 9-8-66 so it was a few years away yet. anyway, i wouldn't have known who Leonard Nimoy was at that time and since i haven't seen this classic episode of Wagon Train in recent years, i was unaware that he was in it. i didn't actually watch Star Trek when it originally aired and didn't become a fan until some years later. i also didn't recognize Susan Oliver as having been in the Star Trek pilot, "The Cage". even though this was filmed as the pilot it was never aired at the time and it's first TV airing didn't occur until 10-15-88. of course, looking at your new video of this, which is very nice quality by the way, i would have instantly recognized Susan Oliver as the girl from "The Cage". great job on this as usual.............not only nice, clean footage but also great information that lets us in on what would then have been future associations with the actors . considering the nice OTK position and the rather fluid motions of Robert Horton when turning her over, pulling up her dress and spanking her bloomers, i have to wonder if he wasn't an experienced spanker . perhaps that's part of what makes this such a classic spanking scene . i really enjoyed the Lover's Lane spanking . it's a pretty good "romantic" story about a naughty, bratty girl who needed a spanking and got one which we all enjoy here . i liked the spanking panel..............good OTK position although the artist might have made her a bit more animated to indicate that it hurt and she was struggling. it's so much better when we have the entire story so we know the events that led to the spanking and i think you picked a great spanking to show us the entire story . you mentioned that these were usually told from the perspective of the female lead so now i have to wonder what the girls of the time actually thought about getting to "read" the thoughts of the male for a change . another great CSR first and one of your best i might add . great way to end romantic spanking month. thanks, phil
