The Comics Spanking Data Base!

This Comics Spanking Data Base, a true labor of love, is intended to be eventually the most complete reference available of every spanking that ever took place in comic books and strips. Animated cartoons are excluded, as is artwork not published as part of a recognized comic book or strip. "Spanking" is here defined as the application of a hand or hand-held implement to the buttocks, so Spider-Man giving Black Cat the boot for example is excluded because a good swift kick does not count as a spanking.

In order to function as a scholarly reference, this DB must include spankings involving children, but with the exception of Super-Tot (Superman as a baby), they will generally not link to pages within either Comics Gallery because our policy has always been not to feature that kind of material. Our reasons for this policy have been explained elsewhere; while we wish we could be perfectly consistent throughout the site, we have at least included in our galleries only those child-spankings that no one could reasonably think were being eroticized in any way. Because we have no real interest in these spankings, and because (as JimC pointed out to us) there are too many of them, we don't intend to ever get more than a small fraction of them documented in the DB. We will probably just indicate, in a single row, that there were numerous spankings in say, Nancy.

Our main hope is to document every adult comics spanking from the medium's main genres such as Western, Romance, and of course Super-Hero. We feel we've made a good start, and we might always get some help from scholars and collectors. And speaking of superheroes, we're especially pleased with the DC vs. Marvel Spanking Tote Board, which appears below the table (it has to be there because the numbers are computed as the table is being built). We hope it brings a smile to your lips as it does to ours.

If there is a page within CSR that features a particular spanking, a link to it will be provided, otherwise FOUND IN CSR? will display a "N". A "Y" in the CONFIRMED column indicates that the existence of the spanking itself is confirmed; however, other details may still be uncertain. Where a spanking is very likely to have taken place, we have included it in the DB with a "N" in this column.

It will be some time, if ever, before we can insert all known comic spankings into this DB. As of the date the DB was built (March 2010), we are still trying to get all the spankings inserted that we have posted in the galleries, plus others we possess or at least know about. As we add more gallery items, we will of course update this DB also. If anyone has any documented instances of comic spankings not listed here and would like to contribute, or can fill in any missing details (issue numbers, etc.), or has found any errors in the DB, please send the relevant information to the Web-Ed (see the "E-MAIL the Web-Ed" button on the Home Page). Comics scholars and friends of this website (you know who you are) may request a Microsoft Word version of this table, which may be more convenient for some purposes than saving the entire webpage, by emailing us.

By default, the entire contents of the DB are displayed, sorted by Issue Number within Title. Since there will probably never be more than 200 or so rows, this may be satisfactory for a search by inspection.
