We continue our four-part mini-series on The Gambols with Part 2, in which Gaye gets spanked
for wearing a too-short mini-skirt. The date of this episode is uncertain; we are tentatively assigning
it a year of 1956 because that's what appears to be printed in the first panel. However, 1956 was really
before the mini-skirt craze, which would put this scene in 1966. The only problem with that is that
it's close to some other spankings, and it seems strange that they would be clustered so close together.
12/04/2020 Update: We recently opened an old note from our old friend, helper, and
comic strip expert JS666 who confirmed that the correct date was indeed 1966.
Thanks as always, JS!

The spanking panel features good OTK positioning and expressions. Of particular interest are Gaye's
expressions: she's smiling right up to the moment when she's across George's knee and the sting is
beginning to set in. Her exaggerated open mouth and copious tears suggest a "Waahhhhh!" that doesn't
need to be lettered.
These strips were discovered by Phil K. although I had run across one of them somewhere and
Andre may have also since he has found two others (not part of this series). Here is Phil's
introduction:
“You may not have come across 'The Gambols', a comic strip that ran for years in the London-based
Daily (and Sunday) Express. It was pretty much a British institution and as far as I know was
never syndicated to any other publications. It was about a fairly typical middle-class married
couple, George and Gaye Gambol; he was stolid, she was a touch bubble-headed. I guess you might
think of it as a British equivalent to Blondie and Dagwood. Anyway, it did include the occasional
spanking - with Gaye, you'll be glad to hear, invariably on the receiving end. I've attached four
that I've found - there may of course have been others. Hope you enjoy them."
Thanks, Phil!
