We come now to a little-known strip called Joe Jinks, which had its origins as Joe's Car about a hundred years ago when the automobile was just coming into its own in America. (Gasoline Alley is probably the best-known example of this type of strip that centered around the auto). In 1928, Joe's focus left the automobile, the title was changed to Joe Jinks, and Joe (rather strangely in our view) suddenly became a boxing promoter, his first fighter being named Dynamite Dunn. We look in on the strip during that era, in 1939, and find Dynamite reunited with his old girlfriend Gloria in a cafe in the town of Porto Wino (we'd guess this is supposed to be some place in South America). The tavern's bouncer has been told that Gloria instigated a fight, so he takes matters into his hands and Gloria over his knee!

As is sometimes fortunately the case, this strip was reprinted in color comic-book form. It was three years later in Sparkler Comics (Volume 2) #7 (February 1942), and the reprint gives us a little more information:

The OTK positioning is marred by Hernando spanking with the wrong hand, although two panels before
the unknown artist (it may have been creator Vic Forsythe) did a good job with Gloria's
expression ("Uh-oh!") as Hernando grasps her firmly and prepares to take her OTK. You can almost
feel the butterflies in her stomach.
