Attualitá Nera, featuring "Papa Don't Spank Me".
Attualitá Nera (Black News) was an Italian "crime" comic apparently similar to the many trash "detective" magazines in the U.S. that combined tawdry sex with criminal violence, the difference being that the American magazines usually feature posed photographs instead of drawn comics panels. Rarely do either delve into the realm of spanking, but it does happen sometimes, and this example is notable for extreme length of the spanking it contains. It was discovered by Chief Strip Researcher Phil Sweetspot and posted on the forum here. There you can see some additional pages that for some reason we decided not to include here - we put the package of images together in the CSR files a year ago and we simply don't remember why we excluded half of them. This comic dates from 1981.
The story here is far from ideal - it inclines to harshness although it isn't unacceptably brutal - and we have therefore taken the liberty of translating the title as "Papa Don't Spank Me" instead of "Papa Don't Beat Me," which might be closer given the word "picchiarmi". A good spanking is not a beating despite the frequent conflation of the two.
The cryptic cover caption reads, "Some unfortunates find it too much pleasure to chase away their teenager". Good cover art, which appears to be fully painted.
First page of the scene: the spankee's bottom is bared and an awkward, wrong-handed spanking begins. We don't know what lay behind the erased (white) area; while we have occasionally had to censor something in CSR - usually some explicit sex going on in another part of the featured drawing - it wasn't we (or Sweetspot) who whited-out the area here.
Second page of the spanking: Papa is using both hands, and despite his words his daughter looks like she's feeling the spanking.
PAPA: And then the ass does not suffer!
Meanwhile, the rest of the family sits down to dinner.
Third page of the spanking:
PAPA: Worse for you! I spank until you decide to behave!
PAPA: I have only begun the spanking!

We have often complained about comics artists who really shortchanged the spanking they were drawing by stuffing it into one tiny panel when it should have been the focal point of the whole page. That doesn't mean the spanking panel must take up the entire page, but it does mean it has to be given enough space in the layout and enough care in the rendering to support the emotional climax it represents. Well, this is one comic spanking no one can complain about on that score: it goes on for seven two-panel pages with multiple camera angles being used. Compare this to the father/daughter spanking in Candy #3, for instance, in which the only spanking panel is about 1/12 of one page!
Probably the most interesting panel here is the last one which features very nice OTK positioning. Overall, this is pretty well drawn, reminding us a little of the style of Jim Mooney, a prolific American comics artist who did an occasional Humorama cartoon and also some femdom stuff we haven't gotten around to posting. The unknown artist or artists are are uncredited, but they were certainly influenced by American comics books.
