#106 - Paraschos Reason To Spank

We have a couple of cartoons where the gag is that the guy can't remember what he's going to spank the girl for (but of course he's going ahead with the spanking anyway). The first, seen here, is by an artist who signed his work "Paraschos" - no first name given, nor have we been able to find out what it was. He was an infrequent contributor to Humorama, and this is his only spanking cartoon as far as we know.

We must say he did a fine job on the spankee, except perhaps that we might have enjoyed seeing more of her face. She has an elegant and slender figure, her bottom is raised very high, and her posture is extremely submissive - no protest at being spanked here! The version seen at left is from Mike's collection and dates from the mid-60's, while the one at right we picked up on Flickr. We have determined that the cartoon's original appearance was in the August 1959 issue of Gaze (not pictured).

Paraschos' spanker - separated at birth?

All of us, it's fair to say, pay a lot more attention in these cartoons to the spankee rather than the spanker - after all, who cares about him? But we couldn't help noticing this spanker's rather elongated skull and missing lips, which reminded us of Butt-Head from Beavis and Butt-Head "fame," if that's the word. It's a pretty remarkable resemblance, with Paraschos' design having come some 33 years before B & B hit MTV in 1992.
