Some years ago we posted a couple of stills taken from the classic episode of The Flintstones in which Wilma and Betty sneak into the Water Buffalo Lodge, are mistaken for initiates, and given a good paddling. We can't tell you how immensely satisfying we found this episode after watching Fred and Barney endure their wives' constant nagging week after week. There's a third (male) initiate, in fact the only true one, but it's easy to ignore him and concentrate on Wilma and Betty. They deserve everything they get, and in the follow-up scene, they even admit it!

Here we see Wilma assume the position, grimacing because she knows she's about to get it but good. The paddle-line is made up of six swatting Water Buffaloes, beginning with Barney and ending with Fred. Only three men visibly deliver the swats: Barney, the nameless guy next to him, and Fred, and we only hear five swats (and five exclamations of "Owww!") from each of the wives. Wilma's final "Yee-Owwwww!" is particularly delectable.

We edited three versions: the first has the paddling scene, the follow-up, and four stills; the second has the paddling only (this one is our favorite); and the third is a slow-motion version of the final two swats. For some reason, the producers selected "Did You Ever See a Lassie?" as the musical accompaniment to the paddling, perhaps because it's in the Public Domain.
