Lena Pry Spanking #1 |
---> Comics Gallery 2 |
A strip probably nobody remembers these days is Lena Pry. And for good reason - it's not very memorable. Yet it did contain at least four spankings, all of its protagonist, although three of them are really just butt-whackings with no OTK position. Let's take a look at the first of them now. |
![]() Lena Pry reprinted in Famous Funnies #4 (November 1934 - original strip date unknown). Script by Monte Barrett and art by Jack W. McGuire. Discovered and posted by the Web-Ed on 03/16/2018. © Register and Tribune Syndicate. |
This is extremely tedious stuff - Lena looks at a house under construction and engages in some physical "comedy" of the kind that was getting a little stale even at the time (exact date unknown but was some time between 1928 and 1934). Benny Hill did it better, and did have a number of "behind in jeopardy"-type moments, but no spankings. One reason Lena Pry wsn't very good is that it was sold as a "topper" in a package with a much better strip, Jane Arden. The two strips together took up one printed page in the Sunday comics section (try getting a newspaper to agree to a set-up like that these days!). |
