Smilin' Jack Spanking #6

---> Comics Gallery 2

For the sixth entry in our Smilin' Jack series, we see one of his buddies spanking a very bad girl. We're not sure exactly what she did, but "playing him for a sucker" certainly merits a good hard spanking. Once again, Zack Mosley knows enough to have the spanks given firmly, and we would guess the after-the-spanking scene was well done also, although we don't have it. The only area in which Mosley does fall short is the positioning - he tends to use a variation of the OTK position where the spanker stands and sort of levitates the spankee up in the air but doesn't provide much bending at her waist.

It's been eight years since we posted this scene, and we thought we knew the exact date, but CSR Chief Strip Researcher Sweetspot has now dug up new evidence in the form of the original newspaper strip that casts some doubt on that point, for it bears the marking "3-5" whereas the earlier version had "3-4". On top of that, the image is reversed, so what gives? Well, as we mentioned last time, sometimes we get lucky and a spanking scene is repeated, and that seems to be what happened here on March 4-5, 1945. This was Sunday-Monday, which possibly explains the color in the first example, although it could also have been a reprint. Here is what Sweetspot had to say:

"I was reading your post about Chross and one thing leads to another and by-way of Richard Windsor I end up noting that you wondered if there was a follow-up to the spanking found in Smilin' Jack on Sunday March 4, 1945. So I found out that yes the next day there is a panel with the same spanking scene. After that panel there is no further reference to the spanking that day and probably not in the following days since the strip starts a new story immediately."

Now let's see a little more of the story, courtesy of Richard Windsor. It appears our spankee, Walkie Talkie, has been in league with some con men who have cheated Wagon Wheels, which is certainly adequate cause to give her a good spanking laughing face! We have no idea why Zack Mosley named these characters as he did, but what an enjoyable Sunday strip this must have been to readers at the time, even as the approaching end of World War II in Europe must have been dominating the newspapers. What could be more cheering than seeing justice done on a smaller scale as a bad girl gets the spanking she deserves? big grin

Long-time CSR readers will remember that while Richard's specialty is discovering old spanking photographs, he has an interest in comics as well and has come up with many interesting items over the years. We are indebted to him for this fine scan of what appears to be a reprint of the Sunday strip.
