Teen Comics #31 cover

Yes, it's Patsy Walker (still with auburn hair), Cindy (the red-haired girl whose hair color the more-popular Patsy later adopted), and that idiot Georgie listed on the cover of Teen Comics #31 (May 1949). Artists unknown. © Marvel Characters Inc.

CSR has been presenting a lot of material lately from Golden Age Marvel Comics, including three very similar scenes of a character asking for a "penance spanking" and one with a "penance booting". (See them listed in Millie the Model #27 and Hedy Requests a Good Swift Kick!. Up until now we've enjoyed posting them, but this one is only appearing out of our sense of duty since it's razz(gaghh!) F/M. It's from Teen Comics #31 (May 1949) and involves the now-forgotten character Georgie and his girlfriend Judy. Note the two-syllable "Georgie" instead of the more common "George" in the wake of the popularity of Archie Andrews. Georgie turned up in a few other comics and even had his own book for a short while, but he doesn't appear to have been too popular and we'll soon see why.

Our story (such as it is) finds Georgie, who's forgotten his money, out on a date with Judy (unlucky girl). To avoid having to admit he can't afford to take her to the movies, he devises a series of stalling tactics designed to run out the clock until it's too late to see the show. Unfortunately, his plot backfires (just as did Della's in Venus #2, Chili's in Millie the Model #27, and Hedy's in Patsy Walker #62) when he finds out that Judy had two free passes to the show! The rest is too ugly to describe, but you can see it below if you have a strong enough stomach.

Web-Ed attributes the script to Stan Lee; artists unknown. © Marvel Characters Inc. Posted by the Web-Ed on 01/27/2023.

The striking resemblance of this ugly scene to the much more fun X/F ones that we have attributed to Stan Lee on the basis of his known authorship of Patsy Walker #62 (he signed the splash page, never one to hide his light under a bushel although he often went uncredited in his early years at Marvel) means that we believe he wrote this one, too. Lee was in our view not into spanking despite having written at least seven spanking scenes, apparently seeing them as mainly humorous devices with which to close a story, but we won't analyze them any further here, reserving that task for another time and place.
