This is the most unusual of the many spanking cartoons of George Morrice, and one of the most unusual
Humorama ever published. Morrice's spankees are almost always distressed at the prospect of being spanked,
but this one seems rather bored, perhaps having no fear of her boyfriend Wilfred's spanking prowess.
She puts him down as being rather unmanly: "Go on, Wilfred, exert your womanly rights!" In other words,
she's something of a brat - the first and only one we have ever seen from Morrice.
Now, Morrice could have turned the gag on the idea that she's about to get a lot more than she bargained
for from Wilfred, perhaps by having him roll up his sleeve to reveal a surprisingly burly physique under
his Caspar Milquetoast exterior, or something along those lines.
Instead he drew Wilfred in such a way that we can't really tell just how hard he's going to spank her,
and he also added a third character (this is perhaps the most typically-Morrice aspect of the cartoon)
- someone's mother. Is it the spankee's or Wilfred's? Given the social norms of 1950's Britain,
it seems more likely that Wilfred would be calling at her house rather than the other way around, so
we think it's her mother. But whoever she is, she's carrying a mean-looking strap or tawse, and while
we can't know how hard Wilfred spanked her, once Mom got busy with that strap we think it's safe to say
our spankee didn't stay bored very long!
So the situation is a rather confused variation on the brat's comeuppance theme, and the OTK position isn't up
to Morrice's usual standard - the spankee is twisting around - although on the plus side her bottom is
raised nice and high. It's also the only time a strap ever a appeared in a Humorama "spanker". An
odd cartoon, perhaps, but a welcome addition to the Humorama series, and another CSR historic first!
