It has long been our belief that Abe Goodman, the editor of the Humorama digests before and during their "classic" period (1955-60), was a closet spanko. In support of this theory we can point to the massive number of spanking cartoons in these publications along with innumerable spanking references and uncredited short narratives that pretty much had to be written by him. (See Humorama Spanking Verses and Humorama Spanking Mentions for plenty of examples.) What CSR readers have not seen until now are the spanking photos utilizing posed models that began appearing as early as 1951. There are a half-dozen known examples, not including a movie still taken from "She Wrote the Book" which will be presented elsewhere and one or two silly F/M ones that were probably also movie stills, and they continued after Goodman's time as we shall see. We will present them chronologically with the understanding that there may be another one still out there undiscovered.

The first of these is singularly inept as the majority of magazine spankings in erotic publications generally were until the advent of Nu-West around 1980. With the bondage element and its F/F orientation, it could have been produced by Irving Klaw and possibly it was, for Humorama always purchased their photos from elsehwere, or possibly outsourced them to freelancers during their last decade. We believe it dates from the Fall 1951-Spring 1952 issue of Joker, which we found for sale somewhere (possibly E-Bay).
