Yep, it's that old "Swat the Fly (Behind)" gag, but we never get tired of it as long as the girl is pretty, and Martin Filchock draws a pretty one here and gives her a nice big shapely behind as well! We wish that Filchock had placed the swatter's imprint more squarely across the middle of that behind, but she certainly felt the sting and unfortunately didn't realize the gentleman's innocent(?) intention. This is the first known "spanker" by Filchock, although he did a cartoon in which the hired girl is being (willingly) taken to the woodshed and another with some sexual innuendo. We were surprised to learn that this one had appeared in Cartoon Carnival, which normally featured more generic and less girlie-themed cartoons, but we're not going to start yet another spanking search in that and similar titles because we assess the probability they contain any significant number of spanking cartoons as extremely low based on our experience with them. |
