Hi, Web-ed.
I haven't been logged on for a while, so my comments are on the last tree weeks of updates.
web-ed wrote:Super-Spanking Summer continues with a sequence of five spankings for a generic superheroine.
This is something I had never seen before! I wish someone would find the story that these panels might've belonged to...
web-ed wrote:(With her red hair and all, it's almost as though CSR Resident Artist Hugob00m's O.T. Katie took up a secret identity!)
There is definitely a similarity! My inspiration for making Katie a redhead was Maureen O'Hara's character in
McLintock! Maybe she was that artist's inspiration as well? Or... she also has a resemblance to the redhead from
Scooby Doo. Have any Scooby fans ever wanted to see that girl get spanked?
And then, there are all the added scans and added info on the
Smilin' Jack spankings! Wow! I love the positioning of the women, and the nice curvy rear ends the have... but the way Mosley poses the men... WTF? Do they have the power of levitation? Well... anyway... Thanks to you and Sweetspot for more information and better scans.
Of course, the thing I like the most about the
Smilin' Jack spankings is that (except for the one with Mom spanking her daughter) they are in a romantic context. I bet that... in spite of the fact that all the spankings were given in anger... Jack appreciated the feel of Cindy's bottom under his hand... and probably Cherry's too!

Hi web-ed,
Nice new scans of the Smilin' Jack spankings

. I'm with Butch and Phil S. Spanking one girl over your lap when you're not even seated is a pretty difficult feat since you can't have a lap without sitting. 2 at once would be super human. Perhaps that one should have been part of Super Spanking Summer

. It appears to me that both the spankings for the girl, Cherry, use the same drawing so I'm assuming that the artist drew her getting a spanking separate from the actual scenes and used it for both of them.....or perhaps he traced it from the scene where she is getting spanked by her mom??
Nice hand print by Doc Cylon, on a nice bottom

. Good updates. thanks, Phil

I'm glad everyone like the recent updates. Three notes:
1. I certainly agree with everyone about Zack Mosley's spankers - they must have the strongest thighs anyone has ever seen to be able to hold up the combined weight of themselves and their spankees that way

. They must have done a lot of dance or karate exercises.
2. As to our mysterious super-heroine, B00m wanted to know about the story those spanking panels might have belonged to. As far as I know, that's all there are - the only time this super-heroine appeared was when she was getting spanked

! You've got to admit her creator wasn't one to waste time on excessive exposition.
3. B00m also asked about the redhead (Daphne) from Scooby-Doo. Yes, there has certainly been some interest in seeing her spanked, and I believe we've got three examples on CSR (two of them are below).
Somewhat oddly in my view there have also been a lot of examples of
Velma-spanking. I know I remember a humorous
Julius Zimmerman-Doctor Cylon one from way back. At this time, I think I have only two more spankings involving Daphne in my files, one with Fred as the spanker and the other with Velma doing the honors.

Velma has a similar appeal to Amy in Big Bang Theory. The intelligent girl who does not mind having her bum smacked.

Keep up the good work. The Smilin Jack ones are terrific. All appear to be froom newspaper strips, but apparently there were a few Smilin Jack comic books. Wonder if those can be found and if they contained any spankings.
And as always love to see fresh drawings of Wonder Woman being made unable to sit comfortably. Have a suggestion for what would be a great Doc Cylon pic. An after the spanking picture of Wonder Woman resting her spanked bottom on pillows, red skin showing below her skimpy costume, lots of pain lines. Or a similar one of her standing up eating off the mantel, a pillow tied to her sore rear, like those women who were shown in the Oakey Dokes spanking seties.

Thanks, Tanner!
I have indeed located some of the
Smilin Jack comic books, but they appear to be reprints of the strip (which is how comic books got started, after all). Some of the spankings at least were reprinted, and I believe we have seen all of those that I had (
Smilin' Jack Spanking #4). It is of course possible that other of the spankings have been reprinted (indeed it is possible that #4 was reprinted a
fourth time in a giveaway comic for
Western Oil of all things, but this has never been firmly established).
These are, however, difficult to track down. Giveaway comics were not distributed in the regular manner but as the name suggests were given away with a purchase. The first Jack/Joy spanking I found was in a giveaway for Omar Bread! The there was
Dell's rather spotty documentation, putting "Smilin' Jack" on the cover of what really was
Dell Four Color Comics #58, and then running a true S.M series years later in 1948. Apart from the considerable confusion caused by the labeling, these are Golden Age books and in short supply.
Two other reprint books are known to exist but they have never been documented. These are believed to have appeared around 1950.
Finally, two reprints appeared in 1989 and another two as late as 2003

! I have never seen them but will probably be able to track them down eventually.
Oh yes, and about Wonder Woman: I'm sure Doctor Cylon will read your suggestions here. Meanwhile, I have 4 or 5 WW drawings altered by the good Doctor that I will post when I can. Probably I can get another in to our current WW mini-series.

We're just blazing through the summer, aren't we? And speaking of blazing, here are this week's spanking updates

:
- The Comic Strip Series continues as we revisit Spanking #10 from Smilin' Jack (Lone Jones spanks a deserving Cindy). More new scans and the original publication dates from Sweetspot!
- Super-Spanking Summer continues with our Wonder Woman mini-series as Sersi takes a whip to WW in a weird crossover episode.
O.K., there's quite a difference between these two offerings, but variety is supposed to be the spice of life. The
Smilin' Jack spanking is excellent, with the usual qualification about Zack Mosley's spankers having impossibly-strong thighs and looking like they're somehow levitating the spankees in place over them

. Not only did we get a new scan (from the day before) of
Dan's original,
Phi S. has confirmed another date for us.
The Sersi/Wonder Woman scene, by contrast, has a number of drawbacks. It's F/F, the standing position is used, and the implement is a whip. Nonetheless it is well drawn, the whip isn't being used too severely, and as I have explained many times, F/F is by far the most popular orientation found in independent art. Another reason for using this one is to remind (or inform) CSR readers of
Jack Kirby's later, less-famous creations. We started Super-Spanking Summer with
Big Barda and we're going to end it with her as well (in a M/F scene), so we might as well meet
Sersi from Kirby's
Eternals this week.
[08/23/2018 Note: I have no idea why I thought I'd started SSS with Big Barda, because I didn't!
See the updates from 08/24/2018 for the first of our three-part Barda series.]
Next Week: The Comic Strip Series continues with more from Smilin' Jack: fifth of a series featuring new scans from Sweetspot, Andre, and Richard Windsor!. And Super-Spanking Summer continues as we present Part 3 of a 5-part(?) series featuring the first superhero kinkster, Wonder Woman!

I managed to botch the numbering on the
Smilin' Jack series when I wrote you and said Dan Rivera requested a better scan of #4. It was in fact #10 - the subject of this week's main site post.
Smilin' Jack October 11, 1943 DETAIL - Another spanking for the
incendiary blonde!

Captain Easy September 20, 1980 - Cindy is spanked because she arranged a fight that involved Lone Jones and Jack Martin. I'm reminded of the
Captain Easy strip that had Sandra Ritzingham stage a fight that involved Easy and a hired thug in a publicity stunt. Because of that she was appropriately enough spanked in public. Cookie Bumstead is spanked by her father because she set-up a fight between him and her friend's dad. In
Hollywood Johnnie it's Johnnie who arranges the fake fight but fortunately it's Miss O'Dell who gets the spanking. Oakey Doaks spanks Mimi Montclair the professional dancer because she too staged a fake fight for publicity. Later in the same Easy adventure we see that Miss Ritzingham needed
another lesson on the same subject matter -dangerous publicity stunts - and very likely resulting in the lesson being applied in the same manner.

Hi web-ed,
The Smilin' Jack # 10 looks just like the other spankings given to Cindy. I have a hunch that the reason the OTK positions often look awkward is because the artist is using the same drawing of the spankee over and over again to save time. Having said that, I'm still not sure why he always puts her over the spanker's lap at an angle instead perpendicular. That might be explained by the position of his non spanking arm.
I have to credit the artist in the WW spanking . Both WW and her spanker are well drawn and looking quite arousing

. I don't care much for spankings with a whip but the girls are still good to look at. Good updates. Thanks, Phil

Once again, thanks for the wonderful Smilin Jack compilation. Nice to see them in large, clear panels, much better than what you find in newspaper microfilm.
I share the opinion of not caring for the whip, in the Wonder Woman one.Associate use of the whip more with bdsm matetial than spanking.
On the other hand, if it had been a paddle would have felt much differently! Wonder Woman,in her ever more skimpy costumes, getting a school principal's style paddle applied to her bare cheeks, right on her sit spot.

It's not late at night for once, but I just finished the updates now and so I'm still falling asleep at my computer. In fact, I've been so tired that
the unthinkable happened with last week's updates - I made a mistake

! I forgot we had some of Andre's scans of
Smilin' Jack Spanking #10 to go along with
Phil S.'s. So this week we have to go back again to Spanking #10 to see the new scans

.
Anyway, here are this week's updates (for links please go the
Home Page via the link at the top of any forum page):
- The Comic Strip Series continues as we revisit Spanking #10 from Smilin' Jack (Lone Jones spanks a deserving Cindy). More new scans that the ol' Web-Ed clean forgot to post last week!
- And then we have this week's regularly-scheduled update as we look back at Spanking #6 from Smilin' Jack. Lots more information including basic stuff like the identities of the spanker and spankee are included in these new scans from Sweetspot and Richard Windsor.
- Super-Spanking Summer continues with our Wonder Woman mini-series as Ms. Marvel spanks Wonder Woman.
Next Week:
- The Comic Strip Series continues with more from Smilin' Jack: sixth of a series featuring new scans from Sweetspot, Andre, and Richard Windsor!.
- And Super-Spanking Summer continues as we present Part 4 of a 5-part mini-series featuring the first superhero kinkster, Wonder Woman - WW spanks Starfire!
- Extra added bonus: we finally present the last known paddling scene from WW's pals, the girls of the Beeta Lambda sorority!

The
Smilin' Jack spankings really don't need to be hyped up because they've awfully good as they are.
The
Wonder Woman spanking isn't bad, but it is F/F. Fear not - I've got something special lined up for Wondy's last spanking coming up in two weeks, and it's M/F!
Finally, I had somehow missed the paddling scene that I remembered seeing 40 years ago in a WW reprint. Fortunately,
Michael sent me a scan and told me just where to find it. Sure enough, I went back to the reference in my basement and there it was

. In my defense, the paddling takes place in the background - that
Harry Peters never did give the spankings the kind of room and emphasis they deserved - and it was easy to miss. We'll see it at last next week

!

I had not really noticed until you said it i did find the poses strange, but i always enjoyed the spankings in Smilin Jack. The spankees are always pretty and really did have a spankable part of their anatamy quite often. I really think Falk(Phantom, Mandrake and Tarzan i think) really did have the best adult spankings followed closely by Crane and then Mosley as far as strip artists go. While Ward. Decarlo and Homer were the big three in the other art field. I love the weekly finds that have have been enhanced by fuller expanations and better scans. Thanks for sharing and have a great day.

Hi, Web-ed.
Great updates this week! Of course, I have the same problem with Zack Mosley that almost everyone else does: I'd like to see the men sitting on something that would support their weight plus the women... and I'd like to see their thighs be more horizontal to provide some support for the women's torsos.
But there is a lot to like about the Zack Mosley spankings too! First and foremost is the shape of the women he draws. They all have big, round breasts, thin waists and, of course, big, round buttocks! Yummy! Also, they all have nicely-shaped legs.
All of the women who have been spanked in a Zack Mosley strip have done something to deserve punishment...(Although I suspect the motives might not be
entirely disciplinary.

)
They all kick when they're getting spanked. I love it when a woman kicks during a spanking!
I like the way Zack Mosley draws skirts. He makes them look like they're made out of some lightweight fabric that clings to the ladies' curves, providing coverage in public, without concealing too much... and without offering much protection from a much-needed spanking!
And then, there's the fact that he drew so many spankings! And most of them M/F! And, I noticed that almost all of them (except for the one F/F) were done by hand!

Glad everyone like last week's updates, and Phil, thanks for the info - when I'm less sleepy tomorrow I'll go back and see if I need to change anything in my text re the origin of that panel.
Now for this week's updates before I fall asleep:
- The Comic Strip Series continues as we revisit Spanking #7 from Smilin' Jack. New scans from Sweetspot and Richard Windsor supply us the names of the participants as well as the date of the happy event!
- Super-Spanking Summer continues with our Wonder Woman mini-series as Wonder Woman spanks Starfire.
- Extra Wonder Woman bonus: we finally located the last known Beeta Lamba sorority paddling in WW's comics! We've been trying to find this one for years.
For the third link please go to the
Home Page by following the link at the top of this page because there is a two-link limit per post for some reason.
O.K., I'm sure everyone will love the
Smilin' Jack scene as
Phil S. discovered a lot more info about it as well as the publication date (up to this point all we had was
CSR Resident Artist Dan Rivera's treasured image from years ago).
The
Wonder Woman scene is more problematical because despite its fine draftsmanship, once again it's F/F. I'll explain the situation once again to avoid confusion: for some reason, F/F probably outnumbers M/F by something like a ratio of 10 to 1 among independent artists. Either the artists themselves or the people commissioning them seem to prefer the F/F orientation for some strange reason. There isn't anything I can do about this and if the artwork is good enough, I'll present it.
Nonetheless I do like to go out on a high note (I have a fairly solid "F" above Middle-C

) and we will conclude the WW mini-series next week with an excellent M/F scene from none other than
David Marshall, one of our all-time favorite artists - Steve Trevor spanks WW!
Finally the
Beeta Lambda sorority paddling is one I'd been searching for for years. I actually had it in my possession but simply overlooked it because it was so small and crappy!

My thanks to
Michael, who has helped out in so many ways over the years including bringing
Tim's artwork to
CSR readers (we'll be seeing more of Tim when it's finally time to wind up the
Comic Strip Series) for sending the paddling scene to me. This is the last known paddling scene in WW's comics (I remember seeing it 40 years ago) but there are still a few more issues from the Marston era that remain to be searched, so there is an outside chance of something else although I don't really expect to find another spanking scene.
