"It's from FIN FANG FOUR # 1. In the story Little Orphan Angry Googam, son of Goom pretends to be an 'orphan from a distant and highly exotic world' so a rich celebrity will adopt him while, of course, he is neither an orphan nor a child but a full-grown monster. In this scene Googam gets spanked by his new mother Donna Angel's nanny Hildegaard."

Fin Fang Four derives its name from Fin Fang Foom, who made his debut way back in Strange Tales #89 (Oct. 1961). This was just before the Marvel Age of Superheroes began one month later with Fantastic Four #1. "Fin Fang Foom" was one of the sillier names dreamed up by Stan Lee for the monster stories he and Jack Kirby were doing at the time. To try to build an entire new mythos around one nearly-forgotten dragon in purple pants from 1961 almost five decades later seems a little desperate to us, but we'll let it slide as we're not up to a lengthy critique of Marvel's recent efforts just now.
It's interesting that Marvel, like DC, is still doing spanking scenes in the twenty-first century, although we suspect both companies are too timid and politically correct to risk a M/F spanking. Just as it's "safe" now in popular culture to portray women as capable professionals and men as bumbling idiots but not the other way around, so too the cowering corporations are willing to venture into humorous F/M spankings but not to go any further. It would certainly be refreshing in a lot of ways to see a good, hard, romantic or discipline-type M/F spanking in a modern comic book, but we're not holding our breath.
