We've seen Lois Lane try unsuccessfully six times to spank a super-tot. Superman must have been aware of what was transpiring on at least a few of those occasions, and of course he should remember the four times his adopted father, Jonathan Kent, tried to spank him with exactly the same result: "Owww! My Hand!" (Interested readers can find the details by searching the Comics Spanking Data Base.) So why is it that he learned nothing from those sorry episodes and makes the same mistake himself here? Evidently, editor Mort Weisinger never got tired of these scenes, just as he never permitted Superman to spank Lois Lane or any other deserving adult woman, an editorial policy that was completely ass-backward, if you'll excuse the expression.
We strongly suspect this panel was taken from Lois Lane #23 (February 1961), but we don't know for sure because we haven't been able to obtain a copy of this issue and because whoever scanned the panel did not provide that information. While we hoped to have confirmation before posting this page, we'll keep looking and update the page at a later date.
