I'll date this for you as March 4, 1971. This copy has been in my file of clips since February 2016. The article appeared in numerous newspapers. This particular copy is probably from Abilene, Texas. I can't believe I didn't post it several years ago. I most likely sent it to The Spank Statement in the spring of '16 but he stopped blogging before publishing the clip. That was before I know that web-ed of CSR might be interested in more than comics, strips and single panel magazine humor.

I'm glad you were able to track this one down. I remember seeing it in my hometown paper about that time. There was a different headline, but the text and the drawing were the same.

The mystery is solved, and we can perhaps now grudgingly admire this young man who figured out how to get a number of Northwestern U. coeds across his knee.

1. Young Romance #54 (February 1953), M/F, Mal/Penny, OTK, Hand – Penny writes some poison-pen letters her sister is blamed for. Sister’s boyfriend Mal figures out the truth and spanks Penny. Good scene but Penny is only 12.

So we finally did find another spanking in a romance comic - we have a small number of these in the middle of hundreds of Westerns - but while it's a good scene, Penny is only 12 years old in the story and I have promised to watch out for such things. This will go into the DB soon.

On to the weekly updates:

• The Comic Strip Series continues with a very nice rendering of that old-time favorite Dagwood Spanks Blondie!
• We return to last week's The End Result to discover the true source of the cartoon and read about the spanking "research project" that spawned it.

Special thanks this week to Dave Wolfe, Hugob00m, and Phil Sweetspot, all of whom wrote in to help clear up this mystery. It also gave me a chance to post a newspaper clipping that Mike D. had given me years ago. The whole corrected/enhanced page has been moved to the Newspaper Gallery with the links corrected here and on the Home Page.

Next Week: We begin a mini-series featuring the discoveries of SPK Comics.

I'll have more to say about SPK next week. For the moment, let me just say I've finally mapped out the updates to the end of The Comic Strip Series, which takes us to about half way through January 2020. I still need to check to see if Phil S. has sent me anything else recently, but absent that it looks like that's when we'll be winding up the current series.

Great update this week!

The Comic Strip Series continues with a very nice rendering of that old-time favorite Dagwood Spanks Blondie!

Yes! I think a lot of us who were fans of the original Chic Young strip would've liked to see Dagwood take his pretty (and sometimes bossy) wife over his knee... but too bad! I never happened in the strip itself. I think the biggest reason to want to see Blondie get a spanking was that she was proportionately drawn with an attractive womanly shape. She'd make a delicious spankee! Another reason was the idea of a "worm turns" scenario. We wanted to see poor old put-upon Dagwood get the upper hand for once. If he somehow came into a lot of money, so he could tell his boss to f**k off. And maybe he'd decide to wear the pants in his family, by taking his wife's pants down!

Alas... such was not to be. Actually, Dagwood was usually the one who behaved immaturely, and honestly, was the one who usually deserved a spanking... But, of course, none of us at C.S.R. would want to see Dagwood with his pants down!

This drawing you found is sort of a "Beep Beep your ass!" type of thing. The underdog who never wins in the original story is depicted as victorious for once!

And in this drawing, Blondie looks very sexy and very spankable! Her nether curves are rendered quite well, and the dress she's wearing looks like it's made of some thin and clingy material. Although she's fully-clothed, we imagine she's going to feel the full impact of each and every swat... and Dagwood will be feeling the soft resilience of her bottom under his hand!

I have only one little problem with the picture: Dagwood's left thigh is under Blondie's neck. He should put his legs closer together to support her lower chest. Other than that, WOW!

And I remember you putting us all wise to Mr magazine some years ago, Tanner. Nor was I passive about it at the time - during 2014 or thereabouts I procured a number of issues of this publication, and while I was forced to resell them for financial reasons, I took care to scan the relevant portions (spanking mentions and any good-looking models - you know how much HugoB00m and Phil Overbarrel like to see the old-time models ) before doing so. I now have excerpts from no fewer than five issues in the files!

The problem is that although I planned to do some special presentations on several magazines including Mr, I couldn't get to it during the next two years (2014-2016), and by this time in 2016 Phil Sweetspot and I were already planning the Comic Strip Series, which I felt required priority over everything else given its great historical and intrinsic spanking value. So that brings us to the question of when we're ever going to get to this very interesting spanking material.

I will have more to say about the post-Comic Strip Series direction we'll be heading in the coming weeks, but for now all I can do is apologize for not getting this material out there before now. Indeed, I'm obviously not going to be able to do the Aces Artist special before next year, either. All I can say is that I dearly hope we all live long enough to see all the interesting items I've got stored up in my files (something between 7500 and 8500 images , although I don't know how many actually contain spankings).

I'm doing the best I can for CSR readers, and actually didn't do too badly this week. Which brings us to the Weekly Updates (next post):

Too much going on to get to in one week, but let's start with this week's updates:

The Comic Strip Series continues with a new mini-series on Andre's finds over at SPK comics. This week: two more spankings from Apple Mary, Spanking #2 and Spanking #3!

I took the opportunity to do both updates this week because although they're both interesting, neither can be considered a great scene and because it really bothers me not to have been able to get more updates done in this, our 15th-Anniversary year. As I mentioned in the post above, I wasn't even able to finally present my expose on the true identity of "The Aces Artist".

Now on to Andre and SPK. I've mentioned Andre a few times over the past year or so when I have complemented the finds of CSR Chief Strip Researcher Phil Sweetspot with some of his. I should make clear that both men work independently and in fact using somewhat different methods (as far as I can determine) and of course both have made many important discoveries involving comic strip spankings and others that have appeared in various newspapers. In many cases they have discovered the same spanking, but again let me emphasize that they have done so independently. I think Andre was a little upset about some of the things I have written when discussing these discoveries, and I hope I've cleared things up by explaining that neither researcher has taken anything from the other (I wrote Andre a rather lengthy email last night hoping to straighten all this out - that's one email down and 250 to go!).

As to SPK, Andre's Tumblr, I highly recommend it although I cannot provide a direct link here because of the two-link-per-post limit (see the Apple Mary spankings for a direct link). He's assembled a huge quantity of spankings there, especially from comic books and newspapers. I admit I did hold off a bit on blowing the horn for it simply because I thought it only fair to Phil S. , who had to wait patiently week after week these past three (almost four) years for me to slowly reveal his many epochal newspaper strip discoveries one at a time. By this I mean I wanted CSR readers to see these new spankings for the first time here rather than at SPK. (Andre and Phil S. may have made many of their discoveries nearly simultaneously, but Andre is much faster than I am when it comes to posting them, partly of course because of the differences between a Tumblr (SPK) and a full-bore website (CSR)).

As usual, I've managed to turn a hiccup into The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire , but in my own prolix fashion I've been trying very hard to do justice to both these fine researchers, Andre and Phil S., to whom spanko posterity will owe a large debt of gratitude for their many discoveries.

Next item: I have very nearly downloaded all of Doctor Cylon's new material, and I do have a couple of related announcements to make, but given how long I've been going on already I really think that should wait for next week.

And speaking of Next Week: We will continue our SPK Comics mini-series with the eighth spanking from Captain Easy. And as an extra bonus attraction, we'll have some fiction from Gesperax entitled "Area51 Spanking". We always thought the way to handle alien invaders (the female ones, anyway) was to spank them, but the government wouldn't listen! Gesperax reveals the whole story next week!

I can see why you would've avoided Andre's finds at first, to make sure that Phil S. gets somewhat of a spotlight here. And there has been from time to time some overlap in what they've found.

SPK comics has quite a few spanking panels, and in several cases, the page or pages with some of the story that led to the spanking.

And there are two on particular that I think you should take a look at. For years there have been a couple of isolated panels floating around the internet. One is Li'l Abner spanking Daisy Mae and the other is Superman spanking a woman in front of two uniformed police officers. Andre has the whole pages that those pictures came from.

Thanks for making me aware of SPK Comics. Its a great site. But I see its connected with Tumblr and have heard they are taking down adult material and NSFW stuff. Sure they'd put spanking pictures in that category especially if any nudity or sexual material involved.

I addressed the situation with Tumblr last December - see this post for the details if you're curious. So far at least Andre has escaped the censors and I'm sure we all hope he continues to do so. It may be that the comics and newspaper spankings at SPK are simply too tame to have aroused anyone's ire. If the worst should happen, I could offer him space on the CSR main site if I could manage to deal with whatever format his pages are stored in. They seem to be very heavily scripted (javascript), but we'll leave the technical problems for that possible future contingency.

Li'l Abner / Daisy Mae - I sourced this one from my collection of Li'l Abner reprints, so obviously I had (and still have) the surrounding strip. (Click on the image to be taken to the CSR page). Just as well that Andre has got the whole strip out there because God only knows when I'd have time to get to it.

• The Comic Strip Series continues with the SPK Comics mini-series as we take notes along side Bela Lanan, Court Reporter! (We had advertised a new Captain Easy spanking for this week, but we ran into a problem when we discovered it was M/M - see below for the embarrassing details).
• The first of two fiction pieces from Gesperax as we visit the Marvel Universe and in particular Area 51, where a very bad girl named "Sin" encounters Sharon Carter, agent of SHIELD, and won't be sitting down for a long while afterward!

O.K., sharp readers are going to be asking, "What about that Captain Easy spanking you promised us, Web-Ed?"

Well, I was just starting to code the page when I finally took a close look at Andre's scan: there was a spanking, all right, but it was M/M instead of M/F as I had thought. I'll put it in the data base next week with some other stuff that's overdue for entry there, but there's no way I'm going to feature it on the main site.

Therefore, I jumped the gun on Bela Lanan and moved it up to this week. It was difficult because I hadn't had time to research the strip in advance. It's a strange strip, running Mon-Fri developing a court case and then presenting the judge's decision as a text-only column on Saturday!

Also, I got some fiction from Gesperax in: it' a story set in Area51 that involves the area a bad girl sits on!

I had intended to make an announcement regarding Doctor Cylon this week, but I'm literally falling asleep as I type this and I'm really not up to it. Next week for sure. And speaking of next week, I'm not sure what we're going to have but we will be here.

Gesperax Area 51 is a nice Marvel Fan Fiction story only I wish Nick Fury was the spanker Bela Lana Court Report is interesting being this was 1939 I thought it was ok for a man to spank his wife reading this comic made me there was no abuse only a man turning his wife over his knee and spanking her for bad behavior like to see the verdict Good spanking in comic

Interesting update this week. I like the OTK pose in the spanking panel, even though I'm not sure the handful of switches and the Hitler mustache gained any audience sympathy for the man!

Since episodes 1-3 are missing, along with the judge's decision, it's hard to tell whether the man was sufficiently provoked into punishing his wife, but I suspect that he was.

And the Marvel story was sort of cool. I agree with Butch that perhaps Nick Fury should've been the one to spank the naughty saboteur instead of Agent Carter. Or maybe even Captain America!

I must have had this one in the files for years (sigh). I certainly didn't mean to hold on to Tim's Modesty Blaise spanking so long, but that's what happens when you're swimming in material and can only post so much per week. I've got an actual spanking from Blackhawk that I've been holding onto even longer because I haven't been able to pin down its date, as well as a lot of other nice stuff, especially from Doctor Cylon (see the "Announcement" topic this week).

Well, we'll talk more about the future as we get to the end of the year. It looks like we'll be winding up the current series the first week in January, but I still need to check the mailbox for any new stuff from Chief Strip Researcher Phil Sweetspot .

Next Week: We've goofed so often recently we're reluctant to commit any further plans in writing, but we think we've got one more spanking from Polly and Her Pals lined up, and we also hope to present more fiction from Gesperax.

I'm not too familiar with the original strip, or the movies that were (sort of) based on it. I think maybe my hometown newspaper may have run it for a short time... not long enough for me to become interested in the characters.

I did a little checking and found this picture:
