I'm glad you got your computer problems sorted out. Not being very tech-savvy, I didn't understand a lot of what went wrong, or how you fixed it... but I'm glad you're still able to post new stuff and save what you had.

I could do without the manacles, but that's a very small gripe. Karstens and Bard seem to be into light bondage. Many of their spankees are drawn with their wrists tied or cuffed.

All I have to offer this week is Spanking #3 from Mary Worth - one of Phil S.'s many discoveries - and it isn't much. It's more interesting historically than intrinsically in that it's a very mild scene. However, the Comic Strip Series is far from over and I've got a lot of good stuff left, some of it of course from Phil, like next week's Candy (whom we've seen spanked in her own book three times), some collected by others, and some independent art.

Also, while I didn't get another piece by Doctor Cylon up this week as I'd hoped, I did spend a couple more hours sorting through his material and we should see something based on Dennis the Menace next week. And work continued on the Tribute to Bending Over, which I'll probably present in two parts because of its length. I'm already done with Part 1 so it could be presented in two weeks.

Haven't checked this board in a while, so I don't know if we've heard anything from Phil O. or Phil S. I'm doing my best, honestly, and I hope everyone will stick with me while I try to get caught up and start producing more output, as I am certainly not satisfied with one new item per week.

Plus: a special bonus from Doctor Cylon: he revisits Tram Pararam's Dennis the Menace to add some animated blushing to Alice Mitchell's behind! We should have done this weeks ago when we were featuring Dennis, but we couldn't get around to it.

Things are still touch and go, but the next two weeks should be good. We've got Beetle Bailey next week and Barney Google the week after, probably with part 1 of our Tribute to Bending Over. I'm still struggling with my email and making slow progress. I'll try to have something to say about CSR during April, which is technically our anniversary month.

HI WEB-ED CSR THANKS had trouble logging in yesterday the single swat to Candy`s rear by her father is nice and she does have a good pert bottom to smack Tran Pararam Dennis The Menace animation spanking is kind of creepy meaning a small boy slapping the naked bottom of his mother really wish this was Doctor Cylon and his paddle teaching Alice a good lesson ok drawing!

• Doctor Cylon chimes in with his and Julius Zimmerman's version of Beetle's Miss Buxley.

The Cylon/Zimmerman "Miss Buxley" doesn't have a spanking, but it does place Miss Buxley in a spankable position. As a matter of fact, Zimmerman had something else in mind when he titled the piece "Ten-Hut" but it was too pornographic to present, and Doctor Cylon cropped Beetle out of the drawing to better focus on Miss Buxley. Buxley was at one time a controversial character, and I recount some of that history on the page.

As far as the obvious preferences of the readers of CSR are concerned I suppose it is technically correct to say there were no other spankings in the comic strip Beetle Bailey. However, about four years prior to Killer Diller recommending to Beetle spanking as being relationship building there was a different incident that took place in the strip that shared some of the same characteristics, but not nearly enough unfortunately, with this week's post. In the earlier strip we see Sergeant Snorkel beating Beetle into a pulp as is typical of the strip's "humor". [Oddly enough, we can see soldiers beaten up by their NCOs but we can no longer have well-endowed secretaries.] Anyway, the chaplain or some other officer rebukes Snorkel for his behavior and says that the sergeant instead of beating the men should, "Treat 'em as a father would". Taking this advice to heart, the last panel shows Sergeant Snorkel, with Beetle across his lap, giving him a spanking. You would be seeing that strip here but some CSR readers, I have found, are adverse to seeing any male spanked so I don't even bother to collect such panels. I believe Mort Walker recalled and repeated the gag but with a much more pleasing result in the 1957 comic.

While we're on the subject, there's also a belief that Blondie was never spanked in the strip that bears her name. I suppose we can once again call that belief technically correct but, off-panel, in the early 1930s she was spanked by her mother-in-law. This time I will show the pertinent panel but with Dagwood being spanked redacted. The story famously goes that when rich heir and man-about-town Dagwood Bumstead married Blondie Boopadoop that he was disowned by his family for marrying out of his social class. As we see below however at one point all was forgiven and Blondie and Dagwood were welcomed back into the clan and offered a generous allowance to boot. Unfortunately, the younger Bumsteads unwittingly - through a series of social faux pas cause his father to lose his best client resulting in dual spankings for the want-to-be chic, young [play-on-words here] couple. I thought this was the best way to show the threat against Blondie's posterior and still have it make sense.

As far as the Candy post goes, I'm voting YES that Candy did get one swat from her father that, shall we say, assisted her upstairs. I doubt that he would have folded up his periodical and taken such a healthy swing just to push air. He had a history of spanking his older teenage daughter so he was hardly the type just to threaten with words alone. This gave her a good sample of what she could expect over his knees if she continued in her disobedience. Anyway, I see no other reason for her to have turned around than to take a look to see what her tormentor might do next, having felt the effect of a solid swat to her rear.

Here's a picture, with slight manipulation by me, of what would have happened to Candy if she had continued to misbehave. Her father has told her to put the spanking chair back under the dining room table. She's not very happy about her situation but at least she complies. Candy Police Comics #83.

The attractive spankee was part of Killer's vivid imagination. The strip was about how far from reality Killer's bragging was.

While Mort Walker's style is not entirely realistic, he still gets the point across that the girl draped over Killer's lap is pretty and that's the only real reason she's there. Being the skilled caricaturist that he is, Walker shows us that the girl is having fun getting spanked, and that while Killer is trying hard to be nonchalant, he's not really doing it for the discipline!

Alas, WillJohn is right, and this spanking isn't really happening, even for Killer.

It would've been nice if Beetle had taken Killer's advice and used this technique to woo Miss Buxley... But... Oh well!

It's funny I didn't remember seeing that Candy panel, but I checked it out and of course Police Comics #83 was the one in which Candy's young cousin Glenna gets turned over her uncle's knee (she's too young for it to be presented in CSR, but she certainly deserved it).

I'm still pretty much behind on everything as there's simply no "slack time" in my day that allows me to pick up the pace. Two updates last week plus the work on A Tribute to Bending Over have left me with no time to get caught up on this board or the mailbox or with the Golden Age Search. I do have a different "after the spanking" panel with Candy we'll get to eventually, but I haven't posted it yet since it wasn't an example of strip work.

This month marks CSR's 15th Anniversary. (The exact date in April 2004 went unrecorded so it will no doubt be a subject of debate in future centuries). While I don't have anything to offer as monumental as the multi-part exploration of spanking psychology I did five years ago, I couldn't let this month go by without writing up something like this week's Tribute to Bending Over. (As a matter of fact, I expanded it into two parts so we'll have Part 2 as soon as I'm finished with it.) It doesn't have the intellectual depth the earlier magnum opus did, but I think it's a lot of fun and I hope everyone feels likewise.

The third special I hope to do this year (the first was Novelty Paddles) is the one revealing the identity of the ACES Artist, as I've always called him, but I haven't gotten beyond gathering the necessary reference materials yet.

We do have another offering this week, from an unlikely source: Barney Google and Snuffy Smith! This one is M/F, with an earlier F/M panel being censored. And just as Phil S. discovered an earlier M/M scene in Beetle Bailey, so I have discovered a M/M scene in Barney Google. I'm getting too tired to give the details here, but soon I will do a batch of DB updates and issue a summary.

Next Week: We begin a mini-series on the British strip The Gambols. It's been in the files for years, and maybe it should have waited on something else during the Anniversary Month, but I simply didn't have time to weigh all the possibilities. The scenes are pretty good ones and I don't believe have been widely seen in this country.

The sad thing about Benny Hill was that he had no real life away from his show.

A wealthy man, he lived in a rented flat over a shop near the TV studio he worked in. He spent all of his spare time watching TV in his flat to get ideas for his show which was still popular when it was cancelled. He was found dead in the flat from a heart attack after nobody had sen him for days. He left his estate to a disabled girl he had never met who was his pen pal.

The Bend Over article is quite nice and not at all what I expected. I suppose my expectations came from spending so much time going through the funny pages and seeing the material to be found in Li'l Abner and the like.
I'm glad you mentioned the Novelty Paddles article because for some reason I had missed it up to this point and a very fine collection it is indeed.
I've only been able to find two drawings of novelty paddles from the newspapers. Here's one from Canada and 1972. The other one [the wife beater from Waco] is already posted somewhere else in the Forum. I'm looking forward to The Gambols post since one of those panels happen to be one of my very favorite OTK examples from the funnies.

Congratulations on the anniversary of C.S.R. And I think your Tribute to Bending Over is a nice way to celebrate. Even non-spanko men like to see a beautiful woman bending over!

I enjoyed that one. It's too bad that the spankee wasn't pretty, but it's still a great revenge story. It reminds me a little bit of a Spanky Sal story that Dan once did.

Who doesn`t like seeing a beautiful woman bending over Benny Hill don`t no why this show didn`t had spanking in it there was plenty of women that was very spankable on it there was a skit where a woman was drunk on a talk show and fell across the knee of the host Benny Hill who gave her a few light pats on the bottom Super!!!!!!!

I'm afraid the censors were two, Butch: Phil S. censored Dagwood in Blondie because M/M scenes are not too well-received here, while I myself censored Jughaid in the first panel of the Barney Google strip because he's a minor.

I think the reason there was no spanking in Benny Hill is because Benny wasn't interested in it. He wasn't gay as was sometimes supposed from all the gay jokes he did, but he seems to have been interested in large bosoms and straight sex, not spanking. There was a German TV show called Klimbim that was obviously influenced by The Benny Hill Show, and it did have a spanking, and yes, we'll be seeing it eventually on CSR.
